When I was invited to be an Official Delta Correspondent at the Warrior Dash this summer, I had mixed emotions – excitement and fear. I haven’t ran for years and how do you train for 12 obstacles?! Lucky for me, the Warrior Dash is a fun 5K obstacle race that anyone can conquer and my kids were willing to train me. So, for the 3 weeks leading up to the race, I ran with my kids – sometimes they were running with me and sometimes they biked but the whole time they were encouraging me that I could do it! We had no idea how to train for the obstacles!
This post was brought to you by the Delta Faucet Company. I received free product from Delta Faucet to write this post, but all opinions expressed are my own.
My #HappiMess Warrior Dash Report!
I recruited my good friend and AkronOhioMoms.com writer, Veronica to join me for the Warrior Dash. I figured an event like this would be more fun enjoyed with a friend and it was! We were happy to meet up with Delta Faucet reps beforehand and check out the shower station where we’d later get cleaned up. It makes a huge difference knowing there will be a nice place to clean up after a mud race – most places just spray you down with a fire hose! We were so spoiled to clean up with the new Delta® In2ition Shower Heads.
How do you train for a Warrior mud race? We ran for the three weeks leading up to the race. Luckily it was only a 5K so we were able to train. What we didn’t realize was that the race would be very, very hilly. No worries, many people walked part of the race. I loved seeing people of all ages, fitness levels, and sizes at the race. Some of the obstacles were really challenging while others like jumping over fire was just plain fun!
The goal of the Warrior Dash is to get outside, have fun, and get a little messy. I’ve always told my kids that if they aren’t dirty when they come inside from playing that they aren’t playing enough! 🙂 Seriously, let your kids play and get dirty, even mud! I love that Delta Faucet has the same view point on good old fashion outside fun. The Delta brand marketing director said, “Whether you are exploring, playing or creating, mess is evidence of a life well-lived” and I completely agree!I can’t tell you how amazing the mud was and there was plenty of it. I felt like a kids during all the obstacles but especially the mud. We can’t wait to bring our boys with us next year – they will LOVE the mud! There were quite a few families running the race together which I think is amazing. Kids just have to be at least 12 to participate. We will be there next year!
Delta made getting clean just as much fun as getting dirty with their amazing shower station. Yes, you shower together but nobody gets undressed, so no worries there! The shower station is equipped with over 40 of the new Delta® In2ition H2Okinetic 5-Setting Two-in-One Shower Heads. What a test of their ability to get people clean! People were utilizing both the shower head and hand shower to get all of the caked on mud off of themselves, each other, and clothes. Yes, we helped each other get the mud off, it was a necessity. It made me think of how amazing this shower head combination would be to wash young kids in the bath and our dog!
Delta did a great job at helping us document our time at the Warrior Dash with photos in front of the shower station. My kids are so proud that their mom got so muddy and didn’t skip even one obstacle! Delta also knows that we all love to sing in the shower, at least 29% of Americans sing in the shower, so why not at the Warrior Dash? Delta had an actual in-shower karaoke station! Thankfully the video below doesn’t have audio of Veronica and I belting out our favorite songs while singing in the shower because I’m sure it sounded better to us than everyone else! Isn’t that always the case when we sing in the shower?
It was so fun! Can you tell?! Check out that huge shower head washing those four runners clean!
I was so nervous about running this 5K mud run but I’m so glad that I did! We had a great time running through the obstacles. I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time! The entire experience was great and we can’t wait to go back next year – as long as Delta is coming along too. Stay tuned so I’ll be sharing our real-life in-home review of the new Delta® In2ition Shower Head to see how it handles my messy family of 4 and dog!
