Christmas is my favorite time of the year. People are extra hopeful and joyful. People are generally more giving during this season too, not to with giving gifts to friends and family but also giving to charity. I think it is because we all take a moment to stop and think about all we have in our lives to be thankful. Then we realize that many people across the globe don’t have it as good.
Giving to charity is a way we can bless others. In fact, 95% of all households give to some form of charity. We are a socially responsible society when it comes right down to it. We want to make a difference.

Yes, you can even buy a goat for Christmas! What?! Not for you, but for vulnerable children living in poverty around the world. Goats and other animals like chickens, ducks, and rabbits not only provide children and families nutrition and a way out of poverty.
My family decided a few years ago to forgo a couple gifts each so that we could use that money to buy a goat, chickens, or other items to help those in poverty through World Vision. Last year, we gave a goat and chickens. This year, we decided on chickens, ducks, and a fishing kit.
The way my kids flip through the World Vision catalog is very much the same as a toy catalog! They can’t wait to pick out the perfect gift that will do the most good for children in another country. They each decide how much of their own money to give as well. It is humbling to see children give generously of their own piggy-bank money to help others.
