“Green It Yourself” with Zero-VOC Paint

I am taking baby steps to a healthier and greener lifestyle. The more I learn about harmful chemicals, the more I want to go more natural for my family. Green Works is a great way to take baby steps toward a greener lifestyle. They now have a full line of laundry products too. If you think about it, your family is wearing and breathing in the detergents that you use to learn their clothes. A more natural choice is easy now with Green Works® Oxi Stain Remover, Green Works® Chlorine-Free Bleach and Green Works® Laundry Detergent.

I just came across the Green Works facebook page. They have great advice on how to be greener and live more naturally. Green Living Expert Carter Oosterhouse introduces proactical and affordable ways to “green it yourself” from the kitchen to the bedroom to the bathroom.

As a mom, I’m always looking at my kids’ health before even my own. With all of our home remodeling, it is the perfect time to renovate our home with a greener and more natural mind-set. My favorite Green It Yourself Tip from Carter Oosterhouse is to use a zero-VOC paint, especially in kids’ bedrooms. Did you know that the “new paint smell” that I literally get sick from is actually volatile organic compounds that can get trapped in your furniture and carpet even after the semll has faded?! Yikes! Using a zero-VOC paint is an easy way to “green it yourself” and provide a safer and healthier room for your kids. I’ll be looking into this for our next painting job. I’m curious about the price difference.
