Bears are becoming more commonly sighted in the Akron, Ohio area including Uniontown, Bath, Cuyahoga Falls, and Stow, Ohio this month and last Summer in Hudson, Ohio and Streetsboro, Ohio.   Check out the map of Black Bears in Ohio below which highlights black bears spotted in NE Ohio this year.

Believe it or not, Black bears are native to Ohio with over 200 sightings last year in Ohio.   Black bears are protected in Ohio and listed as an endangered species list. You might be surprised to know that our neighboring states of West Virigina and Pennyslvania have between 15,000 – 18,000 black bears in each state. It’s amazing we don’t have more black bears in Ohio.
Generally, black bears are fearful of people and don’t attack. Of course, like any wild animal, do not approach, corner, or harass.
