I remember the first time our nurse in Akron Children’s NICU handed me our first-born son, Elijah. He was in the NICU because he had a hematoma formation on his head after a vacuum-assisted delivery. We were unable to hold him for the first 12 hours but that didn’t stop me from sitting by his incubator, I didn’t want to leave his side. When his nurse asked if I wanted to hold him for a few minutes, I cried. It was a moment I will never forget. I will never forget the kindness of our nurses, especially during the first moments and days of both our children’s lives.
Nurses are there from the start, assisting new parents from delivery, to teaching new parents how to change a diaper and nurse for the first time. Their role in inspiring bonds between babies and parents and encouraging healthy development of babies is priceless.
Pampers Swaddlers, the #1 Choice of U.S. Hospitals is setting out to recognize nurses with their second annual Pampers Swaddlers Thank You Nurses Awards, developed with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN).
Pampers is inviting you to say “thank you” to the extraordinary nurses in your life by by submitting a nurse nomination in one of three categories: Labor & Delivery, NICU and Postpartum on the Pampers website.
New parents look to nurses to help them through the first cries and feedings and everything in between. They are a valuable resource at the most important time of our babies’ lives.
Another vital part of our babies’ lives is quality diapers, especially for tiny babies in NICU. Pampers just introduced the new Pampers Preemie Swaddlers Size P-3 diaper for the most vulnerable premature babies weighing as little as 1 pound (500 grams).
Pampers celebrates all babies and those who care for them.
Now through January 27, 2017, Pampers invites parents, co-workers, family members and friends to say “thank you” to extraordinary nurses by submitting a nurse nomination on the Pampers website. There will be 3 winners, one for each area: Labor & Delivery, NICU and Postpartum. The winner will be announced during Nurse Appreciation Week, beginning May 8, 2017. These nurses will receive a one-year membership to AWHONN or NANN, including attendance at the respective organization’s annual convention, a scholarship, a P&G care package, and more.
In addition, three Pampers Swaddlers scholarships will be made available through AWHONN to help nurses from underrepresented groups complete their studies toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
