It is back to school time and there is so much to do! We started by getting our kids back on a fairly decent sleeping routine last week, which I highly recommend. There is so much to do to prepare for back to school including shopping for clothes, school supplies, backpacks, lunch bags, getting hair cuts, and the list goes on and on. I must admit that I avoided all of the above, totally ignoring that summer was coming to an end until the last minute! My kids started school last week, so I just purchased the essentials and a few cute outfits. I have plenty of school clothes shopping left but since it is so warm still, there is plenty of time to shop for fall clothing.
I am fortunate that I can buy all of the above for my children, however there are many families that struggle this time of year. There are many kids that don’t have all the school supplies for school, and not just because their mom was trying to hold onto summer. My heart goes out to the kids that don’t have the supplies they need for school. Here is an easy way to help kids!
Take a Pop Quiz to Donate School Supplies
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Disney are asking you to help them donate school supplies for kids in the Boys & Girls Club through the Tools for Back to School initiative. I never liked pop quizzes in school, but this one is super easy and fun! You can take the quick between now and September 30th. I felt so good knowing that by getting just 5 answers right on the Tools for Back to School quiz, I was able to donate school supplies to a club kid.
Not only that, I learned quite a bit too. I had no idea that 3 out of 10 kids don’t graduate from high school but those in the club have a 90% graduation rate! So far, there has been 20,806 supplies donated to help kids, their goal is 30,500! I hope that you will take a couple minutes to take the quiz too.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America Partners with JCPenney
BGCA clubs give kids a safe place where they can learn, grow, and have fun. Instead of being one of the 15.1 million kids left home alone, kids at BGCA are with caring adults and friends.
If you are not sure what the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is all about, check out this video. It tells the story how their mission is achieved!
I started my back-to-school clothes shopping a couple weeks ago but still have plenty to do! I haven’t even started shopping for fall clothes since it is so warm here in Ohio. I always find fantastic deals and cute clothes year-round at JCPenney. I like the community and charity involvement that JCPenney is involved in year round. Throughout the month of August, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America are partnering with JCPenney to round up some support at the check out. You can even donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America online.
Being able to engage and help a child is the best thing ever. If you are interested in volunteering at a Boys & Girls Club of America or know know children that could benefit from one of the 4,000 clubs nationwide, find your local BGCA Club here.
