Life happens really fast. When you’re a working mom with two kids, it almost zips by in turbo speed.
One minute you’re holding an infant and then, in what seems like the blink of an eye, you’re cleaning up the LEGOS your creative and wonderful 8-year-old left on the floor.
So, I have learned to really appreciate those little one on one moments with my kids.
On October 3, 2013 I Pledge to Read with both Elijah and Elizabeth as part of Jumpstart’s 8th annual “Read for the Record.” It’s our chance to not only spend some quality time together snuggled up reading “Otis” by Loren Long. Even more, we are taking part in something HUGE. Something HISTORIC. Something INTERNATIONAL.
Together, we are going to help break a world record. My son the idea of breaking a world record Rocks!
Read for the Record is the one time of year when millions of people come together to celebrate literacy and support the Jumpstart mission of early childhood education. Last year 2.3 million people participated.
That’s 2.3 million people supporting Jumpstart’s mission: To work toward the day that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
I can stand by that mission and it is definitely one I want to promote to my kids.
It’s one of those moments we can spend some time together and learn together.
