Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
I can think of no time better to start training a child in the Bible than in the beginning. One of my daughter’s favorite books is a small pocket-size Bible book she’s had since she was a toddler. She is 14 now and asked if we could buy another copy so she can give it to her children in the future because she loves it so much. The problem is, it retails for about $80! But, this precious conversation only happened now with my 14-year-old daughter because she was exposed to the Bible from the beginning. Do you know how my heart swells?!

If you have preschoolers, I highly recommend The Beginner’s Bible series of books and workbooks. They have sold over 25 million products since 1989 and have been a favorite for many young children, including my own!
A perfect start would be, First 100 Bible Words. Your child will enjoy the vibrant colors and illustrations as they learn words and concepts from favorite stories of the Bible – and what a great way to tell those stories too! Telling the stories like Noah’s Ark from the beginning of childhood gives kids an understanding of the Bible even before they can grasp the entirety of it.
Growing up with the stories of the Bible and learning from the Bible starts the foundation of the love of the Bible and Jesus Christ.
My kids always loved the story of Noah’s Ark as kids and we had such a fun trip to Ark Encounter last Spring to learn even more!
Another great book to introduce your kids to the Bible and reading is First 100 Animal Words. Kids love animals and this book is all about the animals set within classic Bible stories!
Both books are for emerging readers and toddlers ages 0-4 – but if your kids are like mine, they will enjoy looking at the books and reading them well after that. The sturdy format of both books is perfect for those little toddler hands to hold too.
