Many people think that my hair is naturally curly because I’ve had perms since I was in 5th grade. My hair is actually completely straight. I’ve worn it straight for a few years but went back to curly a couple years ago.
I had one really good perm and 2 not-the-greatest perms in the last 1-1/2 years, I decided to try straight hair again for a while. With summer approaching, I’ll probably cut off a few inches. Now, I must decide. Should I wear my hair curly or straight? If I ask my parents, they say curly. My husband usually likes it curly too but likes it straight this time around. My kids vote straight. lol

Pros with straight:
Easy to pull back in a pony tail while at the pool or doing yard work.
Cons with straight:
Longer drying and styling time as I normally do curl it with a big curling iron for bounce and large curls.

Pros with perm:
Easy daily styling, just add mouse and go.
Cons with perm:
Not convenient while at the pool because if I don’t put styling products right on it before it dries, it’s a big puffy mess!
I’m asking your opinion
Do you think that my hair looks nicer curly or straight? I will let AOM friends decide! 🙂 Thanks.
Curly all the way 🙂
I like the straight hair. I get to see “more of you” with the striaght hair, the curly style tends to take over and thats all I notice is a lot of hair. Although many people would envy that thick hair that you have, and your color is just gorgeous so I say wear it however it makes you feel the best!
Thanks, Kara!
I think you look much more youthful with straight hair. It also looks healthy and more up to date. That’s my vote!
Straight for sure!! It looks great both ways but I’m loving it straight!!!
Thanks, Bitt!
straight! a lot of curly hair people would die to have straight hair like yours. 🙂
Thanks so much, Beth. I wasn’t baiting for compliments but sure have received good ones. 🙂 I agree that curly hair is easy to style! A change is also a good thing.
I thought that maybe it was sort of my “signature” too. LOL
Wow! Lots of advice here an on our facebook page. I really appreciate it! 🙂 I have heard a lot of comments from people that my straight hair makes me look younger. I wonder if it is because of the Dr. Perricone’s Cold Plasma cream (http://blog.perriconemd.com/top-ten-anti-wrinkle-creams-from-thinnest-to-thickest/) I have been using on my face OR the new Mineral Hygienics make up that I have been using this past month (I’ll be adding that review tonight). That could be the case as well.
I prefer you with curly hair. For me, only knowing you because of this blog, I think your curly hair is like your signature. I used to get a perm and it never looked as great as yours does. Kudos to your hairdresser. =)
You’re beautiful either way, but I’m voting straight–at least for a while. 🙂 Sometimes change feels good! With 2 girls with curly hair–whick I totally envy for its ease of styling, I tend to say curly, but for you, my friend, I’m going with straight.–at least for a season or 2!
Thanks, Barbara! 🙂
Without a doubt – curly!
You look fantastic!
I think curly hair is pretty and unique in the sea of straight hair styles these days. I am sure your hair is beautiful, Brianne. Several people have mentioned that they think the straight hair makes me look more youthful, I’ve never ever thought that. Being that I am starting to get wrinkles, etc, I will have to take that piece of information to heart. Whatever we can do to stay younger looking is worth trying! LOL Thanks for your advice!
I really want to say curly. I really do. I have naturally curly hair, so when I see other girls with curly hair it is like we can commiserate together on how much we have straight hair envy. I think you look good either way, but I think that the straight hair style on you is very flattering. It does make you look more youthful. Whatever you do decide on, you will still look great!
I checked out your blog, love it! Love your hair too. Not sure if I could pull it off having a shorter hair style, I’m so use to having longer hair. It would certainly help me with my headaches though! Whenever I pull my hair back in a pony tail, it gives me headaches because of the weight.
Thanks, Andrea. Have you tried to chemically straighten your hair? I’m not sure if it works the same as with a perm but I was able to straighten all of the permed curls out of my hair with a product that is much like a perm. Might not work the same with naturally curly hair though. I didn’t realize that straight hair could soften my features, I always felt like I could hide behind my curls, especially my big ol’ nose. lol Thanks for your suggestions. 🙂
I was in your same position. I think you look better curly. I had hair about 3/4 the way down my back that was stick straight. I got tired of it and permed it twice, then decided to straighten it and cut it all to my shoulders. Best decision ever! It is so easy to do now, and with 3 kids 4 and under, I need a quick and easy style.

I like it straight. But I’m biased because I have naturally curly hair and, of course, have always wanted straight hair. I flat iron mine a lot but it takes so long. I’m envious of those who have beautiful, naturally straight hair, which you do. I also think it softens your features. I love the color! Either way looks good though. BTW….I love your necklace in the straight hair pic. Good luck with your decision.
Thanks, Sara. I always thought that curly hair looked more youthful.
Straight. It makes you look more youthful as well! You have gorgeous hair either way, I love the color!
