As a mom, I’ve been teaching my kids to share from the time they were old enough to play with toys. In those early toddler years, it felt like they would never get it. As my kids have grown, it has delighted me to see them share graciously – most of the time with friends. However, we are still working on it between siblings.
Sharing and Caring in Simple Ways
It is important for us moms to drive the thoughtfulness of sharing and putting others first to our kids in not only words but deeds. Last week, we received a Miss Jackie’s cookie tray. I’ll be posting a review later but let’s just say that the treats were so good, you would think they were delivered divinely from Heaven, not Hudson, Ohio. I enjoy sharing whenever possible and couldn’t wait to start sharing the these treats.
I had the opportunity to be lunch mom to my daughter’s kindergarten class and decided to bring a little cookie treat to her teacher and the teacher’s aid. I simply put delicious chocolate chip cookies and cake bon bons in a zip-lock bag for each teacher. I write a note, “A sweet treat for a sweet teacher from sweet Elizabeth.” My daughter’s eyes lit up when I told her she could put the treats on her teachers desks. While going through my daughter’s back pack this weekend, I found a thank you note for Elizabeth. The note was a thoughtful thank you note for the special sweet surprise. It meant a lot to my daughter, she hung it up on her bulletin board in her room. Sharing can be fun and even rewarding.
