Before discovering The Chef’s Garden out of Huron, Ohio. I would have never known you could eat squash blossoms. They offer specialty and heirloom vegetables, herbs, and more direct to consumers. We’ve had a lot of fun discovering new ways to eat their super fresh produce shipped directly to our door, including squash blossoms.
This recipe is quick and easy to make by adding fresh mozzarella cheese and maybe sardines to the inside and baking. The combination of floral with gooey cheese and salty sardines is unexpected and delicious.
The squash blossoms are part of The Chef’s Garden Eat the Rainbow Box.
Squash blossoms are not just for looks, they are nutritious too. Adding them to your diet is a great ideas as they are high in calcium and iron and especially high in vitamins C and A.
I prefer them baked with fresh mozzarella and nothing else. My husband and son liked them with sardines although thought it could use 1/2 a sardine each instead of a whole one.
I really hope you’ll try something new, whether it’s my recipe or another to enjoy the restaurant quality produce from the Chef’s Garden. I hope your family has just as much fun discovering new foods and cooking together as mine too. Getting kids involved in preparing the food you eat leads to healthier kids that are less picky too.
