Infant Vision Stimulation – What can your baby see?

Mom Dad Babysmartees

Newborns can only see about 8-15 inches away.   That is about as far as seeing the person holding them.   They are also attracted to items with high contrast colors.  They can differentiate dark and light colors, such as black and white, checkered patterns but they are also very nearsighted.

I am not a pediatrician.  I am a mom who is interested in our children’s development and well being.  From what I have read, newborns with visual stimulation develop their vision faster than newborns that don’t.

What is Babysmartees?

Babysmartees was developed by a mom, just like you and me.   When her son was 6 months old, the founder of Babysmartees (Paula A. Tancredi Penman)
did infant stimulation with him every day. She noticed that her son focusing her t-shirts with contrast colors and shapes.  That was when she had the A-HA moment to develop Babysmartees t-shirts.   Babysmartees t-shirt is not like any other t-shirt.  The shirt has the black geometric shapes on white t-shirts as a visual stimulation tool for infants.

Babysmartees t-shirts are available in three designs categorized by your baby’s age.

Stage 1 design is the checkerboard, for babies age 0-2 months.

Stage 2 design is the circles, for babies age 3-4 months.

Stage 3 design is the bowtie, for babies age 5-6 months

While the patterns printed on the t-shirts are merely simple for adults, but they are essential for baby’s visual stimulation. The founder of Babysmartees also writes a blog about infant stimulation.  Click here to visit her site
