Hands On Review of Chadwicks Classic Peacoat
I love the style of the classic peacoat. I had a boring gray peacoat that finally bit the dust last year. I wore it to death because of its versatility. I was thrilled to review the Classic Peacoat by Chadwicks. First off, Chadwicks selection is anything but boring. For their Classic Peacoat, you can choose from Blueberry, True Red, Honeycomb, Chocolate, Sweet Berry, Camel, Black, Navy Plaid and Navy. I chose Navy as it is a good color for me as a red-head and versatile to wear with most anything.
I have a warm puffy winter coat and a really warm mid-calf length winter coat. It’s freezing cold in Ohio and I’m choosing to wear my wool blend Classic Peacoat because it just looks fabulous and provides great warmth. This is my new favorite coat that makes me feel more “put together” which as a mom, I need all the help I can get. I like how this coat works well with both casual and dressier outfits too.
Below, I wore this coat as we had an Ohio thaw for a couple days. The temps got out of the 20’s and we headed to the trails. The paths were still snow covered but at 50 degrees, we couldn’t help ourselves. With a thinner shirt underneath, this was an ideal coat. With a sweater on, it’s ideal for the 30 degree days too. Below, Elijah is about to throw a chunk of ice into the river. We all joined in on trying to hit the large pieces of ice raging down the river with our little chunks. Yes, this coat is even great for wearing when you throw ice! ha ha Seriously, it is dry clean only and wool; so for winter sports, I wouldn’t make this my number 1 choice.
What I like most about the Chadwicks Classic Peacoat is the fit. It has a very flattering fit. This is a fitted coat but not tight. The coat curves in at your waistline while providing enough room for your bust and remaining flat at the stomach. I like the coverage it gives of your bottom too which makes this coat excellent for jeans and slacks. The deep pockets are great for moms too, I can easily carry my camera without it bulging out or being noticeable.
I mostly wear a size 10 Tall, sometimes 8, sometimes 12. I ordered the Classic Peacoat in a size 10 Tall and it fit perfectly. The length was right on and the sleeves fit exactly. I did not order this coat in a size larger to accommodate bulky sweaters because I honestly didn’t think of it. This has not been a problem. I’ve won sweaters with turtlenecks and even sweatshirts under this coat without it feeling tight or looking bulky. I find that Chadwicks sizing is right on. They have an easy to use sizing chart that you can check with every item on their website. Check it out if you run between sizes like I tend to. The Classic Peacoat is available in size 2 through 24 in everything from Petite to Tall.
