Ohio Sales Tax Holiday
This weekend is Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday where you pay no sale tax on back-t0-school shopping! The holiday starts on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 12:00 a.m. and ends on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Summit Mall will be open with extended hours, Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday the 6th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., to accommodate more shoppers.
Items that are eligible tax free:
- Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;
- School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and
- School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.
Shop Summit Mall for Back-to-School Clothes During Tax Free Weekend
My kids and I will be there this weekend, although we got a head start earlier this week! There are many specialty stores that are perfect for back-to-school shopping for both girls and boys at Summit Mall.
One of my daughter’s favorite stores (and mine) is Crazy 8! They have super adorable clothing for toddlers through size 14 at unbeatable prices! They are sure to have even better deals during tax free weekend!
Another favorite store is Gymboree, offering clothing for babies through size 14 for boys and girls.
A little small for my daughter, but just check out this adorable Fall outfit at Gymboree! They already have great sales going on so I expect even more deals during tax-free weekend here as well as other stores in the mall.
GAP and GAP Kids has your entire family covered for back-to-school. It is ok for you to pick up an outfit or two during tax-free weekend too, moms! The tax-free incentive is for clothing of all sizes as long as the individual item is $75 or less. It is a great time to start Christmas shopping too if you spot something!
Other favorite children stores include Children’s Place where you can also find affordable and trendy clothes for boys and girls up to size 16. Dillard’s, Macy’s, and Justice are also great stores for kids, with Justice being just for girls.
My son has out grown typical children clothing stores and is now venturing into new stores for the men and young men’s clothing departments. Summit Mall has many stores to choose from that offers clothing for tweens and teens like him including Eddie Bauer, Dillard’s , American Eagle Outfitters, GAP, Buckle, Charlotte Russe, Hot Topic, Hollister, Macy’s, and many more.
My 12 year old (almost 13) found really nice finds in the men’s department of several stores to his surprise.
We had a good time checking out these teen and adult clothing stores for the first time for my son. He likes that there are so many more options now that he’s growing up.
I was happy to find some great deals on clothing at stores I’ve never shopped at before now too.
Summit Mall also has many stores that offer sports apparel to show your local professional team pride. Many stores carry these items with some selling team clothing exclusively. Find great sports clothing at stores like All Star Sports, Lids, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Villa, and CLE 23.
You can even find unique clothing in stores like FYE that aren’t necessarily a clothing store like this Wonder Woman outfit below.
This was our first time shopping at Villa. It is a great place to find branded athletic clothing like Nike and Adidas for both men and women sizes. 
In addition to clothing at Villa, they have a nice selection of shoes. Also find shoes at Dillard’s, Macy’s, Foot Locker, and Finish Line.
Even shoe stores have clothing like this deal I found at Foot Locker for nice tees at less than $7 each. 
Back to School Extravaganza
The Back to School Extravaganza is also during tax-free weekend on Saturday, August 5th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. This event is going to be so much fun for the whole family with goodie bags for the first 100 families, a balloon artist, giveaways, crafts, games and exhibitors.
