Get kids to stop slamming the toilet seat!

Do get awakened in the middle of the night by slamming toilet seats? Have your kids gotten their small fingers (or worse!) slammed by a falling toilet seat? Are you always telling your kids not to slam the toilet seat?Argh! What an annoyance. This is an easily solved common household problem. The fabulous new technology of the slow close toilet seat is just genius! I’m certain that a mom invented this feature because all moms will love it!

We had the opportunity to review the  American Standard Champion Slow Close Toilet Seat. It comes in both round and elongated shapes and a variety of colors to match any bathroom decor: white, linen, bone, and black. It fits all conventional elongated and round front toilets.

So, does it work? YES! My kids are not longer slamming the toilet seats every single time they put the seat up or down when they go to the bathroom. It’s really neat. The toilet seat doesn’t make a sound. Plus, I don’t have to worry about the seat slamming down on their fingers. It’s sooo much better than the noisy, rickety, and sometime dangerous “normal” toilet seats! Once you have a slow closing seat, you’ll never go back.

Check out the pictures below. If I can take 3 pictures in the time it takes the toilet seat to close, you know it’s not moving fast!

There are many brands to choose from. Like with most things, if you want something to last, buy a name you can trust. With a name like American Standard, you know you will get a quality product. Upgrade your current toilet with the American Standard Champion Slow Close Toilet Seat now or when you install your next new toilet. Little upgrades like this make life so much more comfortable, enjoyable, and safer.

This was not a paid post. My own opinions were used based on my perceptions and experience. Thank you to American Standard who supplied the product for review and the ongoing relationship with AkronOhioMoms.com. Check out the great selection of products at www.AmericanStandard-US.com.

I think I might definitely need this in a few years. Right now my 3 yr old doesn’t know closing it is an option (since his elmo seat sits atop it!)!!!!

  2. Cindy says:

It’s very nice! Just this morning my daughter was being loud while everyone else was still sleeping. Luckily, she didn’t slam the toilet seat too! LOL

  3. Sarabeth says:

Wow, that’s a great feature! Not something I ever even thought about, but it would be really nice to have!

  4. chris j says:

I have one of these & love it! I could never go back to the regular kind now-guess I’m spoiled 🙂

  5. Deb says:

Wow, I never would have guessed there was a need for this! We have quiet seat closers in our house, but it sounds like that isn’t the norm.

  6. Toni Alabakovski says:

We do not have this problem, but I did laugh and thought about boys accidentally slamming it shut on themselves like home alone 😉

  7. Pam L says:

It is really a good idea, but it seems pricey. I usually buy the soft toilet seats so they can’t smash fingers, of course they only last about a year.

  8. jennifer mosgrove says:

My mom has 1 of these & is so used to it, she always slams our seat when she’s over lol. The next seat I buy will be one though!

  9. Rose Habart says:

My Mom has one of these and I hate it!!! It broke (not very long after she got it). So now, it just closes whenever it wants! So you’re sitting there, doing your business, and it starts closing on you! Scares me everytime. And of course, my potty training toddlers are also terrified of it. Not a fan 🙁

  10. Cindy says:

It’s a wonderful idea, isn’t it, Jennifer? Why didn’t anyone think of this before? It is sooo nice to not hear toilet seats slamming, especially in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. LOL

  11. Jennifer Marie says:

Wow-didn’t know such a thing existed! My oldest son is notorious for slamming the seat-going to look into this product!

  12. Brianne K says:

Nice. Now if I could just find one that goes down that slow after my 5 yr old boy goes to the bathroom, we’d have no slamming and it would always be put down!
