Half of Us Don’t Wash Our Faces…

How often do you wash your face? It may surprise you to know that more than 1/2 of us don’t wash our face at all before bedtime and 52% of us use the wrong cleanser like bath wash or hand soap. If you are not happy with the condition of your skin, the first step is through proper cleansing.  This is especially important if you have dry skin – dry skin season is around the corner so putting into practice a proper cleansing regimen now could make a world of difference later.

CeraVe has a line of hydrating cleansers that are developed by dermatologist to give you the best overall skincare no matter what your skin type or age. You can’t go wrong with any of them. All CeraVe products have ceramides that healthy skin needs to restore and main your skin’s natural protective barrier.

I’ve been using the CeraVe Hydrating Micellar Water Ultra gentle cleanser nightly to wash away makeup and daily environmental pollutants from my face. It is a very gentle cleanser that won’t clog pores. It doesn’t even require rinsing.

Speaking of pores…if you have a water softener in your home, beware as soft water lathers soap up really nicely but then it is hard to rinse all the soap off which can clog your pores. Use a wash cloth to wash and a towel to dry your face. You can also use CeraVe Makeup Removing Cleanser Cloths to gently cleanse your skin. I use these mostly when I travel because it is super convenient to pack.

In my shower, I use CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser for washing my face while I use body wash or the hydrating cleansing bar to wash the rest of my body. Fighting dry skin starts with the right cleanser. I know that CeraVe products won’t strip my skin from the natural oils and protective barrier that other soaps can.  When I cleanse properly, I don’t need as much lotions or creams to fight dry skin – although I do use a daily moisturizer.

I love using body wash but some people prefer a bar of soap. I like that CeraVe has options for everyone! This bar not only cleanses but keeps your skin moisturized for up to 24 hours. Many bars of soap clean your skin but also leaves it dry!

My kids are entering their teen years so I’ve been educating them on proper skin cleansing. When you start your kids off early, they can avoid excess oils that can clog pours and lead to acne. Cleansing your skin both morning and night is important if you want healthy skin that looks as good as it feels. If you are part of the 54% that skips washing their face at night, I challenge you to try adding CeraVe to your nightime regime to see if it improves your skin.
