A Powerful Chainsaw that Women Can Use

I hesitate to say that this is a chainsaw that “woman can use” because I don’t want to infer that women can’t use others or that this chainsaw isn’t powerful as neither is true. Even though women can use a chainsaw, I don’t see many cutting down trees and branches in my neck of the woods!  Also, this chainsaw is mighty with a high-efficiency brushless motor for power everyone will appreciate. I’m talking about the WORX 40V Power Share 14″ Cordless Chainsaw w/ Auto-Tension today and why, as a woman, I love it!

If you have followed my blog long, you know that we have a large DIY section in our Home Remodel section of the blog. I have learned over the years how to do many things including drywall repair, laying tile, installing a showerhead, and even how to install a toilet on my own. I share my experiences with you to show you that women can do so much more around the house than society or we might expect.

Outside, I mow the lawn, weed-eat, and garden.  I’m thankful to have a very manly husband that takes care of the ‘big stuff’ around the house and yard. But, he’s not resolute to think only men can do such. Unfortunately, he had foot surgery a few months back and then the whole family developed bronchitis the last 6 weeks so chores have gotten behind outside. I asked my dad to come over to help me clean up some fallen limbs and review this chainsaw.

WORX 40V Power Share 14″ Cordless Chainsaw w/ Auto-Tension Review

The first thing I noticed about the WORX 40V Power Share 14″ Cordless Chainsaw w/ Auto-Tension is how amazingly light it is.  This chainsaw runs on two 20V Max Lithium batteries to deliver 40 volts of power and performance to cut though any job! Batteries are so much lighter than gasoline! And the power is not compromised with the high-efficiency brushless motor.

Being lightweight benefits everyone – men and women. For me, it is one major factor that made me even want to try this chainsaw. Even though I do a lot of DIY work around the house, I’ve never, ever even considered using our heavy gasoline-powered chainsaw before this WORX chainsaw. It never crossed my mind. When I felt how light this chainsaw was, I was eager to give it a try.  This is also a good option for older people that still work in the yard but need something a lighter weight!

Another cool feature is that there is an on-board battery indicator right on the top of the batteries so you always know exactly how much charge you have left. You should get about 30 minutes of power per charge. This chainsaw comes with a plug-in charger that charges both batteries at once too. These are the same batteries used in other WORX 20V and 40V power tools, so you can shares batteries from other power equipment.

Not only is it lightweight but it is simple to start! Simply pull back the quick-stop chain brake handle while pushing the trigger at the same time. This is a great added-safety feature for anyone but especially newbies like me. If I release the quick-stop, the chainsaw will stop – this prevents accidental cutting!  Starting gasoline powered chainsaws can be quite a workout and something I honestly don’t think I could do as I’ve seen others struggle with that. WORX makes it to easy for everyone, women included to get the chainsaw started and working right away! The automatic tool-free chain tensioning makes it easy to use and maintain for a longer life as well.

Since my husband has been laid up with his foot and bronchitis, we’ve had many limbs and some trees fall in our yard and woods. I love that with the WORX 40V Chainsaw, I can effortlessly take care of after-storm issues. I can’t tell you how proud I am of myself and this new ability. Plus, it is a lot fun! I love getting outside and working in the yard. Now that I can use a chainsaw to trim trees, limbs, and cut logs, I have more options of outside ‘entertainment’ year-round. Even though we are approaching cooler, winter months ahead, there will always be a need for this chainsaw. Storms happen year-round and you never want to leave fallen limbs or partially fallen limbs or trees in your yard.  I don’t know if you can see how massive this branch is behind me and my dad in the photos above and below. It’s huge, heavy, and something I’ve been very afraid would land on a child or our dog. I was happy my dad was willing to tackle chopping it down by cutting at the safer far end of the branch. My dad was also impressed about how well the WORX chainsaw cut through even the large tree brand, noting it has good torque. I can’t tell you how relieved I was when he cut that dangerous branch down! It came down with a huge thump!  Owning your own chainsaw will save you plenty of money too since hiring a professional is very expensive. Of course, you’ll want to use complete safety and every tree is not a DIY project. Be sure to wear goggles, gloves, and steel-toe boots whenever you work with a chainsaw. It may be fun to use but it is a very serious piece of equipment!

Of course, you’ll want to keep it stored safely away from children with the included blade protection cover.

You can purchase the WORX 40V Power Share 14″ Cordless Chainsaw w/ Auto-Tension on the WORX website and on Amazon.com for $199.99. The WORX 40V Power Share 14″ Cordless Chainsaw w/ Auto-Tension comes with a 30-day money back guarantee and a limited 3-year warranty.
