With the cold Spring we’ve had, we still have not yet planted grass seed. We had 2 nights of frost last week. My kids have been begging to have some kids over for a playdate on their Backyard Discovery Playset. I wanted to wait until the grass was planted and the mulch was laid. Instead, we took the one nice day we had and lived it up!
We had kids ages 3 – 10 (the recommended ages for the playset) come over to join my kids for energetic fun. On the playset, we had two 3 year olds, one 5 year old, one 8 year old, and one 10 year old. Even with the age differences, the kids had more than enough places to play without getting into the way of eachother. They were running from one feature to the next having a great time. I thought it was great that the different ages could play together, this is hard to do sometimes with just a 3 and 5 year old as their interests are starting to change.
Having two ways up to the sundeck and clubhouse has come in handy on more than one occasion. The kids aren’t fighting to climb up to the top on just one ladder or rock wall, not that my kids would ever fight. <wink>
Kids of all ages love playing and digging in the sand!
This is a precious picture of the girls just hanging out on in the clubhouse looking so sweet! They played a lot in the clubhouse during the playdate. The girls loved going from window to window and spying on everyone below. I think kids just like to be up high, especially if they are up higher than their parents. It’s their own little space where they can feel “big”.
Just look at how much fun this 3 year old is having with her mommy playing peek-a-boo through the window in the clubhouse. Who knew that this would be such a popular feature. I thought it was just for appearance sake.
What a happy kid on the rock wall! This is a challenging and sometimes faster way for kids to get to the slide first. All of the kids took their turn at the Backyard Discovery Rock Wall! I love the extra rock grips that this playset has, it makes it safer and easier for them to find places to put their hands and feet when climbing.
The Backyard Discovery Glider is a good option for a playset for a couple reasons. #1 it is a good option for young kids like the two 3 year olds in the picture above. They can feel secure and have fun without being pushed too high. #2 Bigger kids can really get the glider going at great speeds by pumping and working together. It’s a lot of fun watching the two age groups have fun with the same playground equipment.
Ok, I admit it, this is a posed shot. I just couldn’t resist getting all of the kids together in one picture. Aren’t they adorable? This really shows the size of the playset too. All 5 kids are playing in 3 bottom levels of the playset while the top 2 landings, the rock wall, and the 3 swings are empty.
