When I was asked to review Roary the Racing Car Silver Hatch Start Line Building Set I was a little nervous to see if T-boy my 8 year old step son would be into it since it was for ages 3+ and also wondered if J-Girl almost 19 months would understand how to play with the set. Well it was a perfect toy for both my kiddos and it was nice to see them interact and play together.
Who is Roary?
The show Roary the Racing Car follows the adventures of a young racing car who lives at the Silver Hatch racetrack. These stories explore Roary’s relationships with his racing car friends while they learn about life through short stories and fun songs.

T-boy gladly put together the 48 piece Roary the Racing Car Silver Hatch Start Line set easily which he enjoyed. Then J-Girl was able to play with Roary and her big brother which was fun for them and rewarding for me as a mom to watch. It was so nice to have this product review become a team effort for the kids so I didn’t have to worry about J-Girl choking on a small piece of the building set and of course T-boy getting upset if his little sister took the toy away from him. This truly was a win-win situation. 🙂
Things I liked about K’NEX Roary the Racing Car Set
- Even though the age recommendation is 3+ it was still very fun for my 8 year old step son to build
- Roary also works on other toy train tracks you own with a simple adapter that is included (gotta love versatility)
- There are interactive cut outs on the box for more entertainment (perfect for an older sibling to help out with)
- The set works well by itself for hours of imaginative playtime
- K’NEX also has Roary’s friends (Maxi and Tin Top) to purchase (perfect for a reward gift or for a Easter Basket)
- Perfect for a boy or girl
