Installing Kenyon Custom SilKEN Cooktop
We installed two Kenyon Custom SilKEN cooktops in our kitchen. We were able to decide where to place the cooktops, how far to space them, etc. We installed a Cliq Studios sink base cabinet to hold the cooktops. Then, we centered the cooktops. Then, we installed the Floridian All Seasons™ Electric Indoor Grill in the cabinet next to it in my favorite tray divider cabinet.
We made sure that the cooktops were fully supported. We had to consider not only the weight of the cooktops (which is minimal) but also the weight of the foods being prepared. The cooktops are supported by the cabinetry and the granite countertops. We added an additional 2×4 between the two cooktops to support the granite, we didn’t want that to break! We hooked the cooktops to 240 volt power. Next, we used a band of silicone around the cooktops. It was one of the fastest and easiest installations we’ve done in the kitchen. They were up and running in no time!
We installed the BEST Island Range Hood above the 3 Kenyon Custom units and it flawlessly takes care of it all.
Kenyon Custom SilKEN Cooktop Review
Not only does the SilKEN cooktop look beautiful in my kitchen but cooking on it is like a dream. It offers so many conveniences that every cook longs for. One time saving feature that I am most impressed with is the fast heat! Induction heat gives you quick heat, it is the only way I boil water now! In less than 1 minute, I boiled water in my Oster stainless steel saucepan and frying pan below.
The 2nd biggest feature that I love is that it is safe. You can touch the burner and not get burned like other cooktops. The induction heat gives you peace of mind knowing that your kids hands won’t be burned if they reach for the burner. Right after I boiled the water, I put my hand on the burner. It is warm to the touch but not hot! As a mom, this is a huge selling point for me, as it would be for the elderly, handicapped, and other cooks. Watch for my upcoming post with a live video of boiling water and me touching the burner. It is something you have to see to believe.
You can cook two ways with the SilKEN Cooktops, with or without the SilKEN cooking grade silicone mats. The SilKEN mats come in a variety of colors and patterns. I chose black to go with my black and stainless steel kitchen decor.
Using the SilKEN silicone mats makes cooking easy.The pots never slide off, even when using your utensils to stir the food. If you have a spill, it falls onto the silicone mats, not on your stove top, for easy clean up. With the induction heat, if your water starts of boil over, simply turn off the heat source and the boiling over water or foam immediately recedes. I boil over foods all the time, so I love this cool feature – no more blowing the boiling over water down!
Cleaning your kitchen cooktop has never been easier than with the SilKEN mats. They are super easy to clean. The cooking grade silicone mats are easy to rinse off in the sink or pop in the dishwasher! Stove top clean up has never been easier.
