Kitchen Island Bar

We’ve had an Island Bar in every kitchen and always enjoyed eating at it. My kids especially miss the island bar from our old house since they were use to eating all of their snacks and drawing at the bar. So, it was a must-have for our kitchen remodel.

How to Build Kitchen Island Bar

Here are simple, visual instructions on How to Build Kitchen Island Bar. We purchased two 48″ CliqStudios Valances to create the apron for our bar.  We measured it and secured the pieces together. We created our kitchen island bar to be about 6 wider than our island. We have enough space to allow this, although it is not necessary with every kitchen island bar to have the overhang.

CliqStudios has a great selection of beautiful island bar legs. My father-in-law is a genius with wood, building entire cabinetry, bookcases, and more for our family. He offered to build the legs for our bar – as he has for the previous 2 homes as well.

First step, he clamped the bar legs in place.

Next, he secured the Valance and Legs together with a Corner Angle Brace.

Throughout the process, he was sure to keep everything absolutely level. Isn’t the Island Bar beautiful?!

We still need to varnish the legs (we already stained them) and we need to finish the electrical box on the back side of the bar. My kids could not wait to sit at the bar! Although we normally eat dinner together at the table, last night our kids ate at the bar. They were so excited and had so much fun sitting there. I think a lot of the excitement is sitting up high so they can see everything from a different perspective. I’m not sure though because I’ve always enjoyed sitting at our kitchen bars too.

I know that we will use our kitchen bar everyday. My kids can enjoy their snacks at the bar. They can work on their homework while I prepare dinner. It is a great place for them to do crafts and art projects. Plus, having an island bar gives you extra seating and serving area during parties.

As you can see, adding a kitchen bar to an island is not difficult. Ordering everything you need from CliqStudios would be a cinch. If interested, visit their website and get the process started today.
