5 Ways To Save Money Visiting Disney World

We are headed to Disney World next month! I am so excited, but we haven’t told our children, we plan to tell them the day we leave. I have been busy planning and figuring out the best ways to do enjoy our vacation without breaking the bank. I wanted to share all about it with you!

#1 Earn Disney Dollars

I opened a Chase Disney Credit Card years ago. I use it every month to pay bill, buy gas and groceries. Then at the end of each month I pay it off! This way I earn points and convert them into Disney Dollars. I have almost $2,000 Disney Dollars to use on our trip. I can use these to buy souvenirs, and meals! Any unused Disney Dollars can be used at other places or in Disney Stores and on Disneystore.com. Also this card gets you some special treatment. 🙂 Enjoy a Disney Character Meet ‘N’ Greet at the private Cardmember location and savings on merchandise, dining and more! (10% off select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at select locations at Walt Disney World and 10% off select dining locations most days at Walt Disney World.)

#2 Timeshares

We happen to have bought a timeshare from a relative, however it never hurts to ask friends and family if they have a roving timeshare that they won’t use often times people forget about their points or sell them!  Our stay will be covered under our points from our timeshare an we are excited to stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort!

#3 Book Disney Packages

We didn’t book a package this year because we wanted to use our timeshare. We have booked  Disney packages in the past and it made our lives so easy! Disney always takes excellent care of their guests(we had a minor hiccup and they went above and beyond to fix it!) We saved money and a lot of frustration booking a package, plus being on the Disney World park grounds means not having to worry about transportation!

#4 Buy ahead and DIY

I am working on ordering souvenirs for the kids before we leave. This way I can have a little basket of items waiting on their beds when we return home. I can also buy these on sale in Disney Stores or online using my Disney Dollars! I am also working on a few DIY shirts for the kids so I always know what color I am looking for and can spot them in a crowd. Matching shirts also make it easier for them to spot us ! Check out Pinterest for loads of idea.  Not Crafty? The Disney Store has adorable Tees on Sale for kids, 2 or more for $10 each!

#5 Check Out Transportation Options

I used the same budget tool that Cindy used here, and it gave me all the information I hadn’t thought to include. Mainly Transportation! I looked into getting a rental car for the days we will be there and cost would be about $600.  Where as a car service with will run us about $200 with taxes and tolls!  That’s huge savings! When you book with Orlando Shuttle Service be sure to use our AkronOhioMoms readers an exclusive promo code! Use Promo Code: AKRON to receive $5 off a round trip or any booking with two or more routes.

Most Important Tip: HAVE FUN!!
