Ride the Duquesne Incline to the top of Mt. Washington for a fantastic view of Pittsburgh, PA. It is an inexpensive and unique way to experience the city in an unforgettable way.
I received admission to facilitate this post.
The Duquesne Incline was voted one of the top 10 sites in the world to view a cityscape and it is located close by in Pittsburgh, PA. Open 365 days a year, the Duquesne Incline is the best way to see the city as a tourist attraction as well as a mode of trans portion for many who live in Pittsburgh!
This century-old cable car has seen its share of history, dating back to 1877 . There are only a few inclines left in the country and the Duquesne Incline is not only for tourists but for residents.
You’ll step inside the original, wooden cable car from 1877 – the interior carvings are amazing. You’ll have a fantastic view for the city from any seat as you climb and decline the hill.
Once on top, step outside on the observation deck where you can view the entire downtown Pittsburgh and 3 rivers below. It is a stunning view of Pittsburgh and the perfect place to take photos of your family too!
You can even go on a tour to learn about the history and visit the machine room to see the equipment in action! My favorite part was seeing the wooden gear teeth in the original hoisting equipment.
This is a must-see for anyone visiting Pittsburgh, PA!
