Family Fun at Kennywood Amusement Park

Kennywood is known as one of America’s Finest Traditional Amusement Parks with a history of more than 110 years. There is fun for the entire family at Kennywood, offering rides and attractions for all adventure levels and ages.

I received admission to facilitate this post.

We’ve been to many amusement parks over the years but nothing compared to the feeling we got when we entered Kennywood. It felt very welcoming, friendly, and familiar although we’ve never been there before. It has to be the history behind the park, including a few buildings like the carousel that date back to 1898! It is so iconic.

Don’t let the history and charm fool you though, Kennywood has kept up with the times and has more than 30 major rides for the entire family.

Kennywood ReviewOne of our favorite rides was The Exterminator, an inside roller coaster in the dark! Not only do you ride through complete darkness but you’ll spin all around in circles, go around sharp curves, and more! I had no idea where we were or where we were going!

The 1921 Jack Rabbit really surprised us as we thought it was going to be an easy roller coaster! It had a 70-foot double dip that took us all by surprise with screams of thrill and excitement.

On hot days, be sure to cool off with a water ride like the Log Jammer, Pittsburg Plunge, and Raging Rapids. We went on the Pittsburg Plunge about a million times because it was a hot day and the line was so short! Yes, it is Pittsburg not Pittsburgh since that is how it was spelled between 1890-1911!

There are coasters and rides for daredevils too including Aero 360, Racer, Skycoaster, Sky Rocket, Phantom’s Revenge, Skyrocket, and Ghostwood Estate, and the Black Widow.

Kennywood Coasters

For those that like more traditional rides, there are plenty at Kennywood including the Merry-Go-Round, Auto Race, Garfield’s Nightmare, Gran Prix, Paddle Boats, Railroad and many more. We went on the Kangaroo a zillion times, it is a seemingly simple ride that goes in a circle, up a ramp, and then free flies back down! Love it!

Since my kids are older, we didn’t visit the Kiddie Rides but there are plenty for the younger crowd.
