San Diego Air and Space Museum is a aviation and space exploration museum has an emphasis on the history of flight. It was incredible to see a flying replica of the NYP-3 Spirit of St. Louis and recall the flight that made history. Of course it is accompanied with a wax figure of Lindbergh. What a way to bring history to life for kids!
If you like antique planes, you’ll love the collection of aircraft on display! Reproductions of the Wright Brothers’ series of gliders, Aeronca C-3 Collegian, reproduction of Albatros D Va fighter series, and more are packed in this museum.
Kids and adults alike will be fascinated to see the progress made in airplanes as well as how airplanes played a huge role in wars. There are fantastic displays of genuine World War I & II, Korea and Vietnam artifacts on display.
There are even artifacts from the World Trade Center to reflect upon.
Bring a camera as there are plenty of photo opportunities!
The Be the Astronaut exhibit is an exciting interactive adventure for kids and adults alike. Elijah looks in at the Apollo IX Command Module, one of only 2 modules flown in space that is on display west of the Rocky Mountains.
In this exhibit, you’ll have the chance to be in control as you launch a rocket, pilot a spaceship, and drive a rover in space! This exhibit was designed with the help of NASA experts for a realistic experience.
