Review of Westgate Vacation Villas in Kissimmee, FL
From the moment you drive onto the property of Westgate Vacation Villas in Kissimmee, FL, you know you are in for a treat!
After leaving the crowded roads of Orlando, we were able to breathe a sigh of relief when we entered the resort. Although it is expansive in size, it feels like a small town that you could easily call home for at least a week or two. The grounds are meticulously taken care of with tropical landscapes, ponds, and more. There is so much to see and do that we didn’t get to scratch the surface in our 3-day stay.
Checking in was fast and easy. This is also where you can find discount tickets for local and Orlando attractions and parks. There is a bistro and free movie theater here too.
But first, accommodations! You can choose from studio to 4-bedroom apartments while staying at Westgate Vacation Villas in Kissimmee, FL. Each comes fully furnished with all the comforts of home. Our 2-bedroom villa was breathtaking with nothing out of its place and in top-notch condition. As a mom of two teenagers, I appreciate the spacious accommodations with a full-size kitchen, dining room, living room, balcony, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It really makes a vacation a vacation when you aren’t on top of each other and in each other’s space.
The master suite is lovely with a king size bed. I love this room because it has 2 sets of windows and a door to the balcony. It’s a gorgeously appointed room with modern decor in natural muted shades of blue and tans. It’s such a retreat.
The kids had their own room with two beds and their own flat-screen TV although we were so busy, I don’t think they ever turned their TV on, neither did we in the master bedroom and the living room TV was on for maybe an hour. The villa is immaculately clean. Each bedroom has a spacious bathroom as you can see in the video above.
While on vacation, I really appreciate a place to prepare meals. This full-size kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to feed your family – just add food!
We are able to keep our diets on track and healthy with a full size kitchen. We took advantage of the plentiful local fruits in Florida.
Having a proper dining room allowed us to continue family meal times together – something we strive to do daily at home too. On vacation, it is a great time to plan our days together to make sure we each get to do and see what we want. It is also the perfect time to reflect on our vacation and talk about what we’ve enjoyed most.
Chilling in the living room or balcony is also a great place for family time and just relaxing after a busy and active vacation day at the resort.
Although I tend to overpack, there is always a need to wash something. I was so thrilled to find a washer and dryer in the villa. We were able to wash everything to avoid bringing home sweating and stinky clothes! There was even laundry soap to use. They think of everything to make it comfortable and at home but if you forget something, there is a store for necessities, gifts, and food.
We enjoyed sitting outside with the screened-in balcony, especially in the morning. The landscaping throughout the resort is just gorgeous. No section is spared. I love seeing all the beautiful flowers, trees and even birds that we don’t see in Ohio.
This Westgate property has a 2-level water park as well. There is an additional charge so plan your visits accordingly.
The lower level is for younger kids with a shallow activity pool with slides that spill into the water, squirting and splashing water attractions.
On the upper level, you’ll find a lazy river which is a family favorite.
Also on the upper level is a pirate themed water playground with two tipping buckets, and three larger waterslides that end on the bottom level – one slide actually goes from the pirate ship through the level to below.
It was never too crowded so we could enjoy everything at our leisure. Plus, there is plenty of chairs to sit and relax while kids play.
I like that there are a few dining options around the waterpark but they also know you need to stay hydrated so their are water stations to refill your water bottle throughout the day! This is especially important on very hot days!
You don’t have to go far or get dressed to get a snack, ice cream, or meal at the water park.
Los Amigos is an authentic Mexican grill – you can access it from the waterpark for outdoor dining or inside for a nicer dining experience.
Everyone was super friendly and genuinely happy to see you. We had the best server and tableside guacamole we’ve ever had. It has sparked a new interest in homemade guacamole now that we have returned home too.
We had an amazing dinner with generous portions and amazing flavors. They weren’t the Tex-Mex flavors that are common in Mexican restaurants, and we really enjoyed it.
Yum!
There are many eateries throughout the resort including sit-down restaurants, snack bars, ice cream chops, and in-room service. We liked to stop by Sid’s Bistro for breakfast, salads and dessert!
Don’t forget ice cream! Hershey’s is always a welcomed treat!
Orlando is just about 20 minutes away, making Westgate Vacation Villas a great location to stay while visiting the theme parks. We had a fabulous time at Universal Islands of Adventure but truth be told, we were excited to get back “home” to Westgate to enjoy the resort and we left the park a little early!
You could spend your entire vacation at Westgate Vacation Villas and have an amazing vacation. There are family-friendly things to do around every corner. We didn’t even get a chance to discover everything during our stay! There are multiple basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, pools, hot tubs, movie theater, mini golf, shuffleboard, volleyball courts, game room, boat rentals on the lake, horseshoes, and more!
There is even a free movie theater! They show an afternoon kid type of movie in the afternoon and then a family moving at night.
It’s a great place to crash during the heat of the day and a perfect way to end the day at night with your kids.
For me, I love Westgate Vacation Villas because it gave me a chance to hang out and spend time with my husband and kids. As my teens become more independent, there are less and less one-on-one time to hang out together. It makes me sad. While on vacation, I’m able to catch up on that time and really enjoy spending time with them. This is exactly the kind of place I see my family returning as my kids get older and even when they have families of their own one day.
