Captiva Cruises Dolphin & Wildlife Cruise Review in Captiva Island Florida Girls Trip

The Captiva Cruises Dolphin and Wildlife Cruise is the top-recommended water adventure in Southwest Florida, departing from McCarthy’s Marina on Captiva Island. Aboard the spacious Lady Chadwick, passengers experience guaranteed wild dolphin sightings, air-conditioned comfort, and breathtaking views of the Gulf Coast.

My family always makes getting out on the water a top priority whenever we visit Florida. For our very first girls’ trip with four of us in our early 20s, we set up base camp in Naples and knew a dolphin cruise was at the absolute top of our bucket list!

From the moment we arrived at McCarthy’s Marina, the warm and welcoming environment set the tone for a magical afternoon. Captiva Cruises has been family-owned and operated since 1986, and you can truly feel that local passion in everything they do. It is no wonder they have been named Best of the Gulfshore by Gulfshore Life for five consecutive years and earned top honors as Best of the Islands! When vacationing, it’s always a great idea to go with a reputable company that others trust so you don’t waste your precious vacation time and money!

Two of us had been on dolphin tours before, but none of us had ever experienced anything so interactive and thrilling. Shortly after heading out into the waters surrounding Sanibel and Captiva Islands, we encountered pods of playing wild dolphins.  I can’t tell you how excited we were to see the first set of dolphins!

The crew encouraged us to cheer and clap, and when we did, the dolphins swam right next to the boat and played in our wake! We were all laughing, smiling, and taking countless photos and videos with the gorgeous open water behind us.

Pro-Tip: Stand near the stern (back) of the top deck when the boat is moving!
Dolphins love playing in the wake created by the boat, giving you an up-close,
unobstructed view of them jumping.

What Makes the Captiva Cruises Dolphin and Wildlife Cruise Perfect for All Ages

The boat itself—the Lady Chadwick—was much larger, cleaner, and more spacious than I anticipated. The first deck is fully enclosed with giant panoramic windows and powerful air conditioning, which felt amazing when we wanted to step inside and cool off. The second floor is completely open-air, offering gorgeous, sweeping views of the coastline.

Even if someone in your group is prone to motion sickness, you can rest easy. The Lady Chadwick is remarkably smooth and stable, so nobody in our group felt sick for a single second. Everyone on board—from families with tiny toddlers to older couples—was completely delighted.

  • Spacious & Comfortable: Plenty of room to move around between indoor AC comfort and outdoor viewing decks.

  • Refreshments Onboard: Full bar service, soft drinks, and snacks are available for purchase during the ride.

  • Friendly Crew: The crew members genuinely cared about making sure every single passenger saw wildlife and had a wonderful time.

  • Rain or Shine Reliability: Cruises run rain or shine as long as conditions are safe.

If you are planning a trip to Southwest Florida, heading over to Captiva Island for this boat tour is an absolute must-do. We made memories on this tour that we will cherish forever!
