Aunt Kate’s Review
Aunt Kate’s has been a favorite family dining restaurant in St. Augustine for 100 years. Whether you dine inside or under the trees outside, you are in for a treat. We visited in the evening to take in the spectacular sunset views, something I highly recommend.
We started our meal off with a bread basket that included Johnny Cakes, rolls and cornbread. Next up, Alligator! Aunt Kate’s has an eclectic menu of Southern favorites you might not find elsewhere. We were excited to try Alligator Tail with creamy orange sauce and Fried Green Tomatoes. My kids have never had alligator and loved it. The Fried Green Tomatoes were a treat as well!
Dinner arrived in a wide assortment of flavor combinations! I love a restaurant that offers something for everyone and Aunt Kate’s certainly does that! Nobody will leave hungry!
A couple of us ordered the St. Augustine Style Fried Shrimp and loved it. It was lightly breaded, juicy, and delicious. It came with a couple sides, I chose another Southern favorite, Cheesy Grits. Yum!
My husband tried their famous Menorcan Sampler that includes their award-winning Menorcan clam chowder and Sausage Pilau. These are flavors you can’t find anywhere past NE Florida unless you travel to Cuba! It is a must-try!
My adventurous son ordered the Softshell Crab Sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like that my kids enjoy trying new foods as much as I do. Aunt Kate’s has so many opportunities to try new and delicious foods that we can’t get in Ohio!
After dinner, we walked outside and on the docks to enjoy the sunset. Anytime of day, this is a wonderful option for families.
We saw kids walking on the sandy beach and along the boardwalk with their families. YOu can see pelicans and other birds flying about.
The restaurant overlooks Tolomato River where you may see a manatee or dolphin! The sunset is speculator! This is one of few places in St. Augustine, FL where you can watch the sunset over the water. I highly recommend dinner at Aunt Kate’s on your next trip to St. Augustine, FL.
