Traveling can lead to miserable kids when they are off schedule, out of their routine, have nowhere to play, and nothing kid-friendly to eat. Large, busy airports just add to this misery for kids and parents.  If you live in NE Ohio or plan a trip to our part of the country, save yourself from expensive flight & miserable kids at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). The Akron-Canton Airport has the lowest average airfare in the State of Ohio. They have 5 commercial airlines that offer non-stop flights to the following cities: New York, Boston, Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Washington, D.C. and Ft. Myers (seasonally).

Not only does the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) offer great prices but family-friendly amenities too: nearby parking with a free shuttle to the gate, quick check-in, breast-feeding lounge, play port, free Wi-Fi, big screen tv, massage chairs, and more.

Akron-Canton Airport for Families

CAK really is ‘a better way to go’ with kids for many reasons. Here are a few.

Akron Canton Airport Play Port

One of the most notable attraction that will keep your little ones happy is the CAK Play Port. CAK Play Port was donated in partnership with Step2 Company headquartered in Northeast Ohio. It is a space where your kids (ages 1-5) can run off some energy and have fun! It is conveniently located right after the security checkpoint screening and close to the breast feeding lounge. This has to be the most active location in the whole airport! Maybe if they get enough exercise, they will sleep on the airplane? 🙂 Oh, and I checked, the play port is cleaned every single day.

Akron-Canton Airport Breast Feeding Lounge

When I was nursing my babies, I would have loved the privacy can comfort of a breast feeding lounge. I never minded nursing in public, I was descret, but the comfort would have been nice to have. The Akron-Canton Airport has 2 Breast Feeding locations. The Akron-Canton Airport Breast Feeding Lounge is located right after the security checkpoint screening and close to the Play Port. Even babies feel the stress and difference in their little world when traveling. It is nice to have a quiet place for them too. The Breast Feeding Lounge is a private, quiet space with a comfy recliner. There is another Breast Feeding space in the ladies room, near baggage claim. It is nice because you don’t have to use a commode stall to nurse a baby, not that I would ever do that! Drape a blanket over the baby is what I did.

Akron-Canton Airport Family Restrooms

Family restrooms are popping up everywhere, including the Akron-Canton Airport. This is such a nice family feature to have at the airport, especially when you are traveling with kids of the opposite sex that are not old enough to go in the bathroom themselves yet too old to go with you. Plus, when you are trying to mange multiple kids, the family restroom is idea. The Akron-Canton Airport has family restrooms in all main areas of the building.

Kids Meals at Akron-Canton Airport

The Akron-Canton Airport has 2 restaurants that offer kids meals, Arby’s and Subway.

We always use the Akron-Canton Airport for our travels. A smaller airport with shorter lines and fast check-in is not only good for adults but essential for traveling with kids. With all of the above thoughtfulness of the airport, it really is ‘a better way to go’ with kids.

Thanks for the great article! We will be traveling with my daughter who will be 1 year old at the time of our trip and I’m already having anxiety over the whole flying with a baby thing. I think this airport seems like a better choice over Cleveland for our trip to Disney.
