Edward’s roots ran incredibly deep in the local community. His parents, William and Mary, along with his 12 siblings, originally settled just south of the Oak Hill and Ira Road intersection in Bath, Ohio. In 1867, Edward purchased this specific piece of land just north of the iconic Hale family property. The Cranz and Hale families became incredibly close neighbors, constantly helping each other out on their respective farms, and the bond became official when Edward’s sister, Pauline, married C.O. Hale!
