If you are an art lover and looking for an Ohio road trip idea this summer, plan on a trip to central Ohio this Summer, be sure to stop by Troy, Ohio for the Sculptures on the Square exhibit. There will be 22 life-sized sculptures created by internationally renowned artists, Seward Johnson all around downtown. There will be 18 sculptures showcasing everyday life with a few Beyond the Fame including Marylin Monroe who will be in her iconic stance with a photographer snapping pictures of her.
If you are an art enthusiast, you’ll love Troy, Ohio. Art abounds in a variety of forms throughout downtown Troy including 15 businesses that team up with local artist to showcase 2D work inside their shops. There are also paintings, photography, and more art showcased in downtown storefronts and walls. This is a fun and unique way to experience art this summer with your family.
There is also a “Be Part of the Art” activities and experiences throughout the exhibit time period of June 13-September 13, 2019. The big kick-off is June 14th with a gala with onsite artists, a 50s and 60s variety band, Buzz For Show featuring American Kings, and more. On the last Fridays of June and July, you can participate in LEGO Day and Mural Day – my mother-in-law loves the murals in Troy, Ohio! If you are in Troy for the Tour de Donut bicycle race this summer, you’ll enjoy Sculpture Day that will feature donut-inspired sculpture projects for kids and adults to have fun with. There is also a Docent-led art walk on the third Saturday of every month this summer.
