Our Stay at Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites

For the 4th of July, we went to Cleveland, Ohio and stayed at the Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites. I have never stayed at a hotel located just 40 minutes away, just for the fun of it. I wasn’t sure what to expect.   Once we parked at the attached parking and registered, we felt like we were “on vacation”. The staff was super accommodating, even with my two kids that were less than patient and wanted to find the pool!

Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites Accommodations

What I like most about Embassy Suites is that you don’t just get a bedroom, you get an entire suite. This is essential when traveling with kids, unless you want to go to bed at 8pm with your kids!  All Embassy Suites offer separate living and sleeping rooms.  We ended up with a balcony suite that was much larger than most suites. It was incredibly spacious with plenty of room for kids to explore and run around. If were were staying for more than one night, it would be enjoyable to stay for an entire vacation. Check out the photos below of the spacious accommodations at Embassy Suites.

Our balcony suite came with a very large living area with a large table with 6 chairs, a desk with 2 chairs, a pull-out sleeper sofa couch, chair, and large TV. Off to the side was a mini kitchen area with a small fridge, microwave, and sink.  Down the hair is access to the king size bed bedroom and a bathroom with doors into it from the hall and bedroom.  The bathroom was very spacious with two spaces for bathing and the toilet and another for the sink.  The actual bedroom was very large with a king size bed and a second TV.

Hands down, my favorite part of our Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites Accommodations was the balcony. We were on the 7th floor which offered beautiful views of Lake Erie and of many Downtown Cleveland buildings. I have never just sat on a balcony in a downtown setting and relaxed. My husband and I enjoyed sitting outside, watching people walk by down below, hearing the city sounds, and just relaxing.

When selecting a hotel for any type of traveling with kids, there are requirements. For my family, once such requirement is a pool!  The Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites has a large swimming pool on the 5th floor with a large sunbathing deck outside.  My kids enjoyed splashing and swimming in the pool. The pool was by far their favorite part of our stay! The hot tub was nice too! There was also a workout area with cardio equipment and another room with weights.  This makes staying fit while traveling on business or for pleasure an option.

Eating becomes a big deal while traveling. You either have to pack snacks or buy them once you get to your destination because even if you eat out for dinner, kids will be hungry 1 hour later! Embassy Suites offers an evening Manager’s Reception with a free light snack and drinks, even alcoholic drinks.  During our stay, they offered goldfish crackers for the kids and several hearty dips with chips as well. The salmon dip was delicious!

Another way that Embassy Suites is super family-friendly is their free cooked-to-order breakfast. Some hotels offer a free breakfast that consists of cold cereal or pastries. Embassy Suites offers you an entire breakfast bar of hot foods, cooked-to-order omelets, as well as a delicious assortment of bagels, pastries, doughnuts, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and drinks. You can’t possibly leave there hungry!

We always choose hotels like Embassy Suites for the breakfast. It saves a good deal of money while traveling, plus it gives our family a good start to the day. My kids especially liked carrying their own food trays and picking what they wanted for breakfast.

Visiting Cleveland, Ohio

By staying at the Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites, we became Cleveland, Ohio tourists. We go to Cleveland throughout the year for many events, but have never played the tourists as a family. Staying at a downtown hotel submerges you into the city and city life.  The Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites is located right in the business district, close to everything.

We walked to Tower City, ate at Hard Rock Cafe, and then walked near the Rock Hall of Fame to see the fireworks from the pier. The fireworks were beautiful over the lake. At any given time, we could see the Downtown Cleveland fireworks, plus 2-3 more on either side of the lake from where we were sitting. It was beautiful!  Staying at the Downtown Cleveland Embassy Suites allowed us to get more out of our getaway by transforming our experience into a real getaway.
