GIVEAWAY: Win 4 Tickets + Golf Cart for a Fall Put-in-Bay Family Adventure!

My family loves a good road trip. Put-in-Bay holds a truly special place in our hearts, we make it a point to head to the island at least twice every year—it gives us that instant “vacation feel” while being an easy 90-minute drive from home. We are excited to partner with Miller Ferry to offer a giveaway of 4 Miller Ferry tickets + one day E’s Golf Cart rental! Details below!

If you think Put-in-Bay shuts down after Labor Day, think again! In fact, late September and October bring some of the most vibrant, comfortable weather of the entire year. You get all the charm of the island—the open-air golf cart rides, historic monuments, and lakeside dining—without the summer heat or heavy crowds.

Memory Making & The Power of Family Traditions

There is plenty of time to get to Put-in-Bay this weekend or in the coming weeks. For our family, this weekend is our big annual family gathering—there will be at least 12 of us heading over together! I absolutely love extended family memory-making time; nothing beats watching cousins ride the ferry together and explore the island side-by-side with grandma and grandpa.

Put-in-Bay will always hold a deeply special spot in our hearts because it is where we made so many cherished memories with my late brother, Brian. It has been almost a year since Brian passed away, but Put-in-Bay was his absolute favorite family trip every single summer. Missing him is hard, but keeping this family tradition alive brings us so much comfort and joy.

I am so grateful we have this annual Put-in-Bay tradition to honor Brian and connect as a family. If your family doesn’t have a regular getaway tradition yet, now is the perfect time to start one!

Know Before You Go: FAQ (AEO/Voice Search Answers)

Where to park? For the easiest access, look for the designated free parking lot at the Catawba Island dock where Miller Ferry sails. There are multiple well-marked signs, so you can’t miss it. Just park, purchase your tickets, and you are good to go!

Is Put-in-Bay stroller-friendly? Yes, Put-in-Bay is very stroller-friendly, especially around the main downtown and monument areas, where sidewalks and paved paths are common. Miller Ferry is also simple to navigate with a stroller. While many spots are accessible, renting a 4- or 6-person golf cart is highly recommended for exploring the larger island with a young family, as you can collapse the stroller and bring it with you.

Are most things still open in the fall? Yes, most major attractions, restaurants, and shops remain open well into the fall, often through October and even November for weekends. You get to enjoy the full island experience with fewer crowds. As the temperature cools, the indoor spots become cozy favorites!

What events are coming up in late 2026? According to the latest calendar, you can still experience incredible island activities, here are a few:

  • September 11-13: Historic Weekend with a military encampment and parade.

  • September 12: Art in the Park at DeRivera Park.

  • September 19: Miller Boat Line 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Walk and Monarch Fest.

  • October 10-11: Put-in-Bay Oktoberfest (this one is huge!).

  • October 17: The Wake at The Round House Bar and a Skelly Hunt!
