Two of my family’s most favorite things about the Akron Zoo converge during the Enrichment Day at the Akron Zoo on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Winter is one of the best times to visit the Akron Zoo because the animals are alert and active! Being in mid-March, they should be active and just as excited about warmer weather to come as we are! If you haven’t been to an Enrichment Day at the Akron Zoo, you don’t know what you are missing.
During the Akron Zoo Enrichment Day, various animal exhibits will hold something special for the animals. Spring themed enrichment items will be placed in the enclosures to stimulate their natural behaviors. It is so fun watching how the animals react to something new, different, and exciting in their environment. It is also a great time for you to see how the Akron Zoo staff cares for their animals on a daily basis.
Check out the following areas for special enrichment activities for the animals: Penguins, lemurs, snow leopards, lions, sloth bears, otters, grizzly bears, red wolves
