Starting this Saturday and every Saturday in January, the Akron Zoo is hosting Cabin Fever Reliever! Get out of the house and to the zoo for fun (and warm) events! There will be free craft stations for kids and free hot chocolate for everyone. Events will be held at Komodo Kingdom Education Center from 11am – 1pm (the zoo is open 11-4). Cabin Fever Reliever is FREE with paid admission. Zoo admission is just $6 in the winter with kids under 2 FREE. Parking is still $2.
After 2 weeks of Christmas vacation with my family sick most of the time, I felt like we were getting cabin fever. Just not being able to go outside to play is a killer for kids – and for us moms too! Thankfully, their noses stopped running and coughs have quieted. We hate being cooped up during the winter and try to get out as often as we can. We have found the Akron Zoo is great at tackling cabin fever before it sets in. We usually go about once or twice a month during the winter. You really get to experience the zoo and animals in a whole new way during cooler months.
You don’t have to be stuck inside all winter watching TV. Bundle up the kids and head to the zoo!
