Monster Jam is in town all weekend (February 16-17, 2013) at Quicken Loans Arena. We were able to go on opening night last night and had a fantastic time! We also went to the Pit Party – check out details on that here.
Monster Jam Review
All of our favorite and some new Monster Trucks were all in high gear last night with freestyle, stunts, and races! My new favorite is El Toro Loco, it’s an amazing truck design and he really knew how to rip up the dirt with fast speeds and amazing stunts! All the favorites were there too Grave Digger, Avenger, Wrecking Crew, Samson, hometown heroes Spiderman and Bad Habit. Also new this year was Son Uva Digger – another favorite since it is associated with Grave Digger – the ultimate Monster Truck!
[slickr-flickr tag=monstertrucksclev]They broke up the night with quad 4-wheeler races with a little drama between the Cleveland team and the Detroit team – just for fun. They get up to some pretty fast speeds and are fun to watch. Our favorite was the moto-cross event! They were the star of the show with their amazing jumps and stunts. I couldn’t believe the distance between the ramps and the heights the moto-cross drivers jumped! The stunts were amazing too – I was afraid they were going to fall! There were many applause and cheers during the moto-cross event!
[slickr-flickr tag=quadmoto]Cheers always get a little louder for Grave Digger! He started out with amazing jumps for his freestyle, however, he ended in a crash. 🙁 It created a lot of excitement but also disappointment as they had saved the best for last and he flipped it.
[slickr-flickr tag=gravedigger]The audience last night was engaged! They were cheering and having a great time – it didn’t hurt that the emcee and drivers were giving out prices all night long!
[slickr-flickr tag=audiencefun]Did you notice the adorable headphones my daughter was wearing? They look like monster truck tires on her ears – they sell them at the show!
There were kids under 2 that I saw having fun! One of our bloggers, Veronica brought her 2 year old baby and he had fun the entire time, didn’t cry once – he was watching all of the action! If you aren’t sure whether you can bring your young child to a show, I’d suggest trying it. This is a great show because your kids can be noisy and nobody cares or notices! 🙂 Seriously, I love that this is a place where kids can be kids. Boys can be boys! Let them scream, cheer, and be loud. No “inside voices” here! 🙂
