I love how one family shakes up the entire village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val of France in THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY. This movie is based on a true story which intrigues me as I always like those kinds of movies.
THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY is about a culinary ingenue Hassan Kadam who is displaced with his family from their native India. They settle into this south France village, bringing with them a new Indian restaurant. The fact that it is about Indian food makes my husband interested as he really enjoys Indian cuisine!
The classical French restaurant owner, Madame Mallory is not happy at all to have this addition to her village, especially not a hundred feet from her own restaurant.
The result is an all out war between the 2 restaurants and families until Hassan’s passion for French cuisine comes to light.
Can the two cultures combine, including the foods? Changing a recipe that is 200 years old is unheard of from Madame Mallory but for Hassan’s response is “maybe 200 years is long enough.”
We can’t wait to see this movie on a date night this August! THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY arrives in theaters everywhere on August 8th!
