Experience a waterpark adventure like no other at Kalahari Resorts. Offering both indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) waterpark attractions, Kalahari is Ohio’s largest indoor waterpark. Kalahari offers a complete getaway for families. I suggest going for at least 2 nights to fully be able to experience what the resort has to offer. My family was able to spend last weekend at Kalahari with a few other bloggers to experience this Ohio family resort. It was a getaway that we will not soon forget, filled with lots of laughter, smiles, screams, and fun!

Kalahari Resorts offers everything you hope for in a waterpark – and more! Enjoy breathtaking waterslides, a zooming water roller coaster, 12,000 sq ft wave pool, 60′ diameter bowl raft ride, mat racing slides, raft rides, winding lazy river, hot tubs that are both inside and outside, activity pools, and several places for little kids to play, slide, and splash!
My kids love both the wavepool and the lazy river best, so we were so excited to see that Kalahari has both! Usually, waterparks have one of the other. Kalahari has so much to offer for all ages that you won’t get bored after a few hours playing. We’ve been to many waterparks over the years and have come across that feeling at others. There is so much to do at Kalahari. This is especially true when you visit during the summer with the Safari Outdoor Adventure Park and Outdoor Waterpark are open!
Another favorite for our family was the Ripping Rhino, a raft tube ride for up to 4 people. We must have rode that 8 times while we were at Kalahari! The tube is huge and spins down the dark tube until it splashes out into the pool at the bottom. It’s thrilling!
The Kalahari Flowrider is a challenging attraction with 50,000 gallons of water creating an ocean wave-like experience. We were able to get a professional demonstrations of all the tricks and thrills that can be had. My son did a great job surfing the waves, but I wasn’t brave enough!
The first night we were at Kalahari last weekend, we stayed at the waterpark until 9:30pm! My kids were having so much fun that they didn’t know how tired they were! If you have kids that are under 7, you know that this is late! We were happy to retreat to our gorgeous suite. Again, if you can swing it, a suite is the way to go.
Our suite included a main living area with an attached bedroom with a king size bed. The couch also opened up with additional sleeping area. The living area included a couch, two chairs, flat screen TV, fireplace, and a nice size balcony off the side. Next to the living room area was a large dining room table that would seat 6. The kitchen offered full size appliances like a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Plus, it was stocked with everything you would need to cook and serve meals. This would be perfect if you planned to spend the entire weekend or week at Kalahari!
We also had an adjoining room that offered 2 beds, another balcony, mini-fridge, microwave, and bathroom. This was so nice since we put our kids to bed way earlier than we go to bed – except for that first night when they were wired! Having adjoining rooms is fun if you plan to go with additional family and friends too.
Kalahari is a fantastic place to visit during the Christmas season. It is decorated inside and out with Christmas holiday decorations. Santa and Mrs. Claus even makes weekend visits. My kids were able to even catch a story read by Mrs. Claus during nightly storytime. It was fantastic! There is still time to plan a Christmas getaway this year! What an awesome Christmas present for your kids!
Like I said, there is so much to do at Kalahari, in addition to Ohio’s largest indoor waterpark! You can easily have hours of fun at the Big Game Room Arcade. This isn’t just for kids, I personally had a blast playing all the latest video games, laser quest, bowling, mini-golf, and more. Where else can you get excited and scream like a kid? My kids loved playing games to earn tickets, they were competing against each other to earn the most tickets.
We went to the arcade a couple times a day for breaks from the waterpark or after dinner.
Speaking of food. Kalahari has dining options for every taste. both inside the waterpark and within the hotel. We had a delicious breakfast at the Reserve Restaurant on Saturday morning. It was the perfect way to start the day. You can also order a boxed lunch to take with you into the waterpark like we did, it was hearty and just what we needed after hours of intense play!
I also suggest renting a cabana. This was the first time we’ve had a cabana at a waterpark and won’t be the last. It is a great place to retreat to during the day when you don’t’ necessarily want to go all the way back to your hotel room. We kicked backed and relaxed in the cabana for snacks (includes a mini-fridge) and for lunch. It offered a much needed break for my kids too. They were able to get a drink, and watch cartoons for a while.

While at Kalahari, you can’t pass by the Candy Hut without allowing yourself some indulgence! This place is a dream come true for any kid – and let’s face it- any adult too! They have every kind of candy and sweet treat you can imagine. Yes, the caramel apples are as amazing as they look!
