Take your family on a historical experience of a lifetime at the Civil War Reenactment at Hale Farm & Village on August 13-14, 2016. This 2-day weekend is your your chance to bring history to life as you witness the reenactment of the Battle of Big Bethel, walk through the Union and Confederate camps, smell the gun powder, meet soldiers and more.
Civil War Reenactment at Hale Farm & Village
The Civil War Reenactment at Hale Farm & Village is the largest Civil War reenactments in Ohio. 700 reenactors will be set up at the campgrounds for the Battle of Big Bethel, one of the earliest land battles of the Civil War that took place near Newport News, VA on June 10, 1861.
The actual battle reenactment is at 2:30 on August 13th and 2pm on August 14th with plenty to do and see before and after from 10am – 5pm.
This is your chance to meet and talk with soldiers, cavalry and civilians dressed in period clothing. Hale Farm & Village does an amazing job of bringing history to life for adults and children. This event is just as much educational and entertaining.
There will be Cavalry mounted drills, foot soldier drills, and artillery demonstrations of the Civil War throughout the weekend.
You can even shake hands with President Lincoln.
Another highlight will be shopping on Suttler’s Row with vendors of Civil War era merchandise. My kids love the old fashioned toys and buy one every time we visit Hale Farm & Village.
