NEED FOR SPEED is in theaters today! If you are looking for an action packed date night movie, this is it. It is the only place where you’ll feel “love, vengeance, and motor oil all swirling together.”
I had the amazing opportunity to visit Disney Studios last month during an all expense paid trip to L.A. to for a screening of Need for Speed and to learn about the upcoming home movie releases.
NEED FOR SPEED Movie Review for Date Night
I am not a car or race fanatic. For me, a car is good if it has high safety ratings and comfortable for my family. That being said, I wouldn’t typically be one to choose to go to a racing car type of movie. However, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the rush and edge of your seat intense action of NEED FOR SPEED!
I found myself acting as a back seat driver through most of the movie, screaming inside where to go but mostly to stop driving because it was so intense. The scenes are unreal in one sense but too real in another. Racing against traffic and doing unimaginable stunts – some of which involve helicopters is extraordinary!
The cast is amazing as well. For being a ‘guy’ movie that involves cars and racing, there is surprisingly good character development. The bond between the men is amazing and believable. The slight love story – not so believable – but it isn’t the premise of the movie!
If your husband or boyfriend wants to see NEED FOR SPEED for a date night this weekend, go for it. You’ll be the good wife/girlfriend for going to see a ‘guy movie’ and you’ll probably like it. It is a well made movie with larger than life action and stunts that you’d never see with a chic flick! If you like or know much about cars, you’ll probably enjoy it even more than the average non-car fanatic woman. I’d see it again in a heartbeat!
