Register your kids now for Akron ZooCamps. This Akron summer camp program is for kids ages 2-15 and is an excellent way for kids to learn about zoo animals.
Each camp includes a tour of the zoo, time with the zoo staff and animal keepers, animal encounters, a Zoo Camp t-shirt, keep-sake photo (except early childhood), zoo souvenir, snacks, and take-home crafts.
Akron Summer Camp ages 2-5 Akron ZooCamps
Kids ages 2-5 can enjoy 1-day ZooCamps with a caregiver in a variety of themes:
- Z is for Zookeeper (June 10 for ages 2-3 and June 14 for ages 4-5)
- Animal Builders (June 24 for ages 2-3 and June 28 for ages 4-5)
- Wet N Wild (July 8 for ages 2-3 and July 12 for ages 4-5)
- Cool Cats (July 22 for ages 2-3 and July 26 for ages 4-5)
- Bear Necessities (Aug 12 for ages 2-3 and Aug 16 for ages 4-5)
Kids that are 5 must turn 5 between Jan 1, 2013 – June 13, 2013 to participate in this age group.
Akron Summer Camp ages 5-6 Akron ZooCamps
Kids ages 5-6 (Must be 5 by January 1, 2013) can enjoy 3-day and 5-day ZooCamps without a caregiver in a variety of themes:
3-Day ZooCamp
- Rockin’ Reef – Kids will Journey to the Reef exhibit (June 11-13 or July 30-Aug 1)
- Animal Tales – Find out if the stories you know about animals are true (July 9-11 or Aug 6-8)
- Great Grizzlies – Learn all about grizzley bears at the new Grizzly Ridge exhibit (Aug 13-15)
5-Day ZooCamp
- Animal Olympics will let know explore the feats of animals like learning how high a snow leopard can jump! (June 24-28)
Akron Summer Camp ages 7-9 Akron ZooCamps
Kids ages 7-9 can enjoy the Akron Zoo 3-day and 5-day ZooCamps without a caregiver in a variety of themes:
3-Day ZooCamp
- Life on the Reef – Explore wildlife that live at the coral reef (June 11-13 or July 30-Aug 1)
- Cool Cats – Learn all about the feline predators (July 9-11 or Aug 6-8)
- Grizzly Ridge – Check out the new Grizzly Ridge exhibit and the residents (Aug 13-15)
5-Day ZooCamp
- Animal Enrichment – Help make animal enrichment items for the zoo animals (June 24-28)
Full Day Akron Summer Camp ages 7-14 Akron ZooCamps
Full day Akron summer camps are available through the Akron ZooCamps for kids ages 7-14 years old. Pack your lunch or purchase a meal deal for lunch. Every day is a new ZOOventure!
7-11 Year olds Full Day Akron ZooCamp (June 17-21 or July 15-19)
12-14 Year olds Full Day Akron ZooCamp (June 17-21 or July 15-19)
There are three 10-12 Year olds Full Day Akron ZooCamps to choose from:
- Zoo Vet – Learn what it is like to be a zoo vet (July 8-12)
- Working at the Zoo – Behind-the-scenes at the Akron Zoo (July 22-26)
- Cities Under the Sea – Find out what is the same with human cities and coral reefs (July 29-Aug 2)
There are two 13-15 Year olds Full Day Akron ZooCamps to choose from:
- Junior Zoo Keeper – Work with zoo keepers in non-dangerous animal areas (June 10-14, June 24-28, or July 22-26) – Limited to only 6 participants each session
- Predators of Grizzly Ridge – Explore the predators of the new Grizzly Ridge exhibit (Aug 12-16)
Akron ZooCamp Prices
Early childhood camps, ages 2-5 are $30 per child for Akron Zoo members and $35 per child for non-members. Camp fee includes an adult caregiver.
The cost for a three-day camp is $65 for Akron Zoo members and $70 for non-members. Five-day camps are $95 for Akron Zoo members and $100 for non-members.
Camps for 13-15 year olds are $115 for Akron Zoo Members and $135 for non-members.
Full day camps that are available for 7-14 year olds are $160 per child for Akron Zoo members and $180 for non-members. Before car and camp meal deals are available for full day camps.
Discounts available for kids that sign up for multiple camps.
On the days of Akron ZooCamps, parents will drop off their children right at the Education Center and pick-up in the same spot. Early Childhood programs require an adult caregiver to remain with them at all times.
