The inspirational major motion picture that brings to life the story of Jesus, ‘SON OF GOD’ will be available on DVD & Blu-ray this Tuesday, June 3, 2014! I didn’t have the opportunity to see it in the theaters and was so excited to hear that 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment was bringing it to DVD so soon.
This is a stunning film allows you to follow the Life of Jesus from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and resurrection.

Some Biblical movies lack the luster of other movies, not SON OF GOD. The producers Roma Downey (Touched By An Angel) & Mark Burnett (The Voice & SURVIVOR) and Director Christopher Spencer have brought together all the elements of a good movie: an amazing story, great cast, beautiful scenes, and knock-out visual and sound effects.
The scenes and exotic locations are visually appealing. The actors were perfectly cast, drawing you into characters that we’ve only read about before.
SON OF GOD is like a breath of fresh air to witness the Life of Jesus unfold before your very eyes. It brings to life many stories from the scriptures.
For those that don’t know much about the Bible or Jesus, it is a fantastic introduction.
I have read and heard many reviews about SON OF GOD. Some complained that the movie isn’t 100% Biblical. There are changes here and there in the movie that are noticeable to those that know the Bible well. Personally, I don’t feel they change the overall story of the Life of Jesus.
For instance, when Jesus invited Peter to become his disciple, in the movie He basically has to prove Himself to Peter with a miracle before he would believe, this is not the case in the Bible. Another change is that Mary was with the disciples the entire time, almost as if she was one of the 12 disciples, which is not biblical.
That being said, the SON OF GOD movie is not a translation of the Bible. It is the retelling of the Life of Jesus for a movie. Just like when any book goes to the big screen, it isn’t 100% the same as the book. I understand that many feel it should be accurate because it isn’t just any book, it is the Holy Bible, God’s Word. Still, it is just a movie – good as it is.
I don’t see SON OF GOD as negative exposure about Jesus, in fact, I believe it is a great tool for Christians and nonbelievers alike. Besides the evangelism aspect of it, it is a good movie to watch either way.
SON OF GOD captures the scenes from the Bible in a cinematic way and is a modern way to introduce nonbelievers to Jesus. Who doesn’t enjoy a good movie?
