I’m sure most families are like mine and as we approach the fall and winter seasons. We begin to feel a little trapped on cold, wet days. So We love spending days like that indoors at the many wonderful local attractions, and the Greater Cleveland Aquarium has been one of our very favorites.

We recently visited the Greater Cleveland Aquarium to find out more about what updates they are working on so that we could share that information with you all. I am so excited about the changes. Over the years they have been listening to what visitors say and are using that information to make more immersive exhibits. Moving the creatures around to make them more cohesive and educational.
Visit Asia
The Asia exhibit has been under re-themeing and it is looking amazing! They have added a few new creatures to this exhibit, a Solomon Island Leaf Frog, a Green Tree Python and my favorite the Frilled Lizard! I love that this area of the Greater Cleveland Aquarium is centered around a Japanese Maple Tree that was made in house! This particular exhibit was also made using repurposed materials.
See the Amazon
As part of the updates that the Greater Cleveland Aquarium is working on is making a new Amazon area. Each area will contain the sea life, reptiles, and environment that is actually in that part of the world. Giving you the feeling of actually being there! This also means they are bringing in Poison Dart frogs, which are my kiddos favorite frogs!
Coastal Boardwalk
The Coastal Boardwalk has been getting the sweetest little update! All the tanks now look like storefront windows! It reminds me so much of the little coastal shops by the ocean beaches in Seaside, Oregon where I grew up. The stingray touch pool will still be the central tank and they will still offer feeding times. If you have never fed the stingrays I suggest you do it at least once!
Spotted Turtle Conservation Efforts
One of the big things the Greater Cleveland Aquarium has focused on in the background over the last 6 years is helping boost the numbers of the Spotted Turtles in the wild. These little Spotted Turtles are now listed as a threatened species and they have been raising and releasing them back into the wild. They were able to release 6 Spotted Turtles into the wild last year and 5 more this year. They are also revamping the spotted turtle exhibit so we can see these little ones!
Baby Shark…
At the end of your trip, you will come to the shark area! The Greater Cleveland Aquarium has a really cool Shark tube. Think of it as like a tunnel through the tank. You can get up close and see all these amazing sharks. Fun Fact: the water that fills this tank was LOCALLY Sourced!
