There is a reason why The Boardwalk at Put-in-Bay is the Lobster Bisque Capital of Ohio! It’s a funny story because people thought that the Booker family was crazy when they wanted to market Maine Lobster Bisque on the island where Lake Erie’s Walleye is king. They stayed the course and now provide the best, family-recipe of lobster bisque that makes The Boardwalk the Lobster Bisque Capital of Ohio.
On our recent visit to Put-in-Bay, we enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner at the Upper Deck at The Boardwalk. The Upper Deck is a nicer, yet casual dining experience with outstanding views of the harbor and Perry’s Monument. It is kid-friendly too!
On The Boardwalk Upper Deck, you can sit inside or outside at beautiful cherry wood tables and booths. Whether you dine inside or out, the gorgeous 180 degree panoramic view of the Put-in-Bay Harbor surrounds you. It is the prettiest spot we’ve found on the island to have dinner!
The restaurant and bar is beautifully and tastefully decorated in the nautical theme that brings the atmosphere of the harbor indoors.
The Boardwalk is the place for seafood lovers where you can choose from Lake Erie perch and walleye, Live Maine lobster, Alaskan king crab, fresh shrimp, and their famous lobster bisque. I enjoyed fresh Lake Erie Perch and a bowl of their famous Lobster Bisque. It was divine!
The Lobster Bisque was creamy with generous amounts of lobster. My son really enjoyed the lobster bisque too. I liked it so much that I ordered more from the Lower Deck to take home! I’m not normally a fish-lover, but I like to try what restaurants are known for. I really enjoyed the Lake Erie Perch, it was mild, perfectly breaded and delicious. I would order it again in a heartbeat. I’d also like to try their Lake Erie Walleye.
You can order a variety of kid-friendly menu options from The Boardwalk Kids menu if your kids are seafood lovers like mine! Choose from burgers, pizza, grilled cheese, chicken strips, and fish strips.
The lower deck at The Boardwalk is a more casual, open air atmosphere to get the same great seafood. You can also enjoy live music at the Marvin Gardens Bar. I liked the lobster bisque so much that I ordered 2 servings to go on the lower deck, they were frozen which made it perfect for the long car ride home.
