How would you like fried food without the guilt? Now you can with the Philips Airfryer. Enjoy crispy fried food using little (½ tbsp. of olive oil) or no oil. Impossible?! Believe it, I put the Airfryer to the test this month with several recipes, all came out crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
LATE 2015 UPDATE: It’s been 2 years since I published this post about the Airfryer. I want you, oh reader, to know that, next to my stove top and microwave, it is the most used cooking appliance in my house. I still REALLY ACTUALLY LOVE IT. Thought you should know.
Philips Airfryer Video Review
I received an Airfyer to facilitate this post.
Philips Airfryer Review
The Philips Airfyer is amazing to put it simply. I have used it to cook many different types of food this month and have been very satisfied with everything I cooked. In fact, my family has requested I make everything again because they liked it so much.
Everyone loves fried food! I never make real fried food because I can’t allow myself to deep fry anything, it’s just not healthy. With the Philips Airfryer, you can get all the fried food taste with a fraction of the oil – or with no oil at all! Amazing, right?
Air Fried Grilled Cheese
My new favorite way to make grilled cheese is with the Airfryer, it is the best I’ve ever made. The bread is way more crisper and is thicker too because I’m not smashing it down while frying. The cheese is hot and gooey inside. Simply brush a little melted butter on the bread, add cheese, and second slice of bread in the Airfryer basket. 5 minutes later, you have delicious grilled cheese sandwiches.
The Airfyer uses Rapid Air Technology that circulates hot air (you control the temp) around a metal mesh cooking basket. It cooks your food evenly and quick! The basket pulls out easily and is even dishwasher safe so clean-up is a breeze.
You can cook basically anything in the Airfryer, chicken (whole hen to nuggets), fish, steak, meatballs, hamburgers (sliders are awesome for this), shrimp, frittata, pizza, french fries, desserts like turnovers, flan, souffle, and muffins. It is a great size for parties too for hot appetizers throughout the party!
Homemade Sweet Potato Fries
I have only made homemade sweet potato fries once before. I refused to deep fry them and tried to bake them. They turned out awful and nobody ate them. Some things just need to be tried! I used a recipe from the Airfryer Recipe Book to make a batch of homemade sweet potato fries that my whole family loved! I cut up 3 sweet potatoes.
I cut them into ‘fries’ and coated them with cornstarch, water, and a little oil.
10 minutes later, we had crispy, delicious homemade sweet potato fries. It couldn’t be easier or taste better! They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
I served them as an after school snack. My son doesn’t like sweet potatoes so he didn’t think he’d like the fries. He loved them and couldn’t get enough! He even said that he doesn’t like sweet potatoes but he likes the fries. I like that the Airfryer allows me to give my kids treats that are healthy but taste great. Fried food without the guilt – who knew?!
Air Fried Chicken Tenders
I tried another recipe from the book called Country Chicken Tenders. This was another simple recipe. I dipped the tenders into the flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
This is what they looked like before putting in the Airfryer. I used less than 1/4 c. olive oil for an entire pound of chicken!
I cooked them for 10 minutes and out came these lovely chicken tenders! I cooked them in a couple batches while I prepared the rest of dinner.
My whole family asked me to make the chicken tenders again! They are fried crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Dare I say they were restaurant quality? We didn’t miss the fat or oil at all. I’ve never made chicken tenders this crispy in the oven or any other way before. This is fried food without the guilt at its fullest!
Air Fried Hashbrowns
My family enjoys hasbrowns and eggs for breakfast. I hardly make it because it uses so much oil! I decided to make this for my kids for breakfast this week and actually used NO oil. I didn’t make much because it was only for my 2 kids.
The hashbrowns came out crispy and actually taste a lot better than when I cook them in tons of oil in a skillet. They weren’t smashed and all held their shape.
In the time it took me to fry the egg, the hasbrowns were cooked. What a time saver in the morning when you want to feed your kids a hot breakfast! Plus, you can enjoy fried food without the guilt any time of day.I have really enjoyed cooking with the Airfryer this month. This kitchen appliance is staying on my kitchen counter for good – it saves me so much time and allows me to give my family delicious fried food without the guilt – it’s healthier, faster, and everyone loves it.
