I am a Chicago Cutlery Ambassador and Have Lots to Learn about Knives!

I enjoy spending time in the kitchen, preparing food for my family. One thing that I have struggled with is cutting and slicing foods properly with knives. I always seem to pick the wrong knife for the job and am not confident in my abilities. My husband is always asking why I use this or that knife for what I am working on. Honestly, the reason is because I don’t know what knife is the “proper knife”.   So, as you can imagine, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to become a Chicago Cutlery Ambassador.

My initial thoughts on Chicago Cutlery

I was able to review the Chicago Cutler Chef, Parer, and bread knives. What I noticed first was that the knives felt good in my hands. They have a balance in them that I’ve never felt before. It shouts quality out loud.

My husband and I were preparing steak on a stick this weekend.  We were cutting top sirloin into thin strips.

Usually, this would take plenty of effort as I would push down hard on my old knives and pull to make the cuts. We were extremely surprised at how well the parrer and chef knife performed. My husband asked me if we were just cutting through butter because it was so easy! Trimming the fat off was easy and precise.

The Japanese blades are ultra-sharp, giving you effortless cutting every time.  I went on to cut up vegetables and even cut corn off the cob with amazing ease.

I can’t wait to learn better techniques and improve my knife skills in the kitchen this season. My hope and desire is to prepare a fancy bento box for my kids’ lunches. The creative and artsy foods prepared for bento boxes have precise cuts, shapes, and are small in size. I already know that Chicago Cutlery is going to help me to be able to accomplish this task. Stay tuned!
