You may not know this about the writers here but we LOVE food. Kelton eats like a teen already, meaning he sometimes eats more than Doug and I. So when we are eating out it’s important that we find places that fill everyone up and taste delicious. Primanti Bros hit the spot!
And the Rest was History
Pittsburgh’s Strip District has always been a beehive of activity. Trucks making deliveries in and out at all hours of the day. So Joe Primanti set up his humble sandwich cart here and business was booming. So Joe partnered with his brothers and opened thier storefront on the 18th and Smallman. Joe retired in the 40’s and his family continued to run Primanti Bros for 30 more years. In the 70’s it was purchased by Jim Patrinos, who saw the potential for growth and as they say, the rest was history!
Fries, IN my Sandwich?
Yes, I too was a skeptic. I am a fries and ketchup gal and my kids are not fans of mixing foods. Primanti Bros is on to something here! We had no idea what we were missing out on. This started because truck drivers needed to be able to eat their meals rather quickly and on the go. So stuff the fries in and BAM, a meal in one hand.
What’s on the Menu?
Sandwiches….and more sandwiches! Turkey, bacon, ham, tuna and so much more! We all loved what we ordered! Although the little ones thought fries on a sandwich was strange, we had no leftovers! Kiernan had turkey, I had roast beef and Kelton had roast beef too. At Primanti Bros everything was made fresh and the slaw was delicious.
Conquer The Polish Hill
Doug ordered The Polish Hill in all its goodness! It was so delicious! It’s stacked with Kielbasa, Mrs.T’s Pierogies, and some spicy Beer mustard. Doug had them hold the grilled slaw off his, but he was over the moon with it. It will have you doing the Polka!
