I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the Cigna Foundation, in partnership with Samahope. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Did you know that every 2 minutes, a woman dies from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth?
When I was pregnant with both of my kids, it was the most joyous time in my life. The anticipation of meeting my new baby was all I could think about day and night. I had a top notch OBGYN doctor and a hospital that I trusted, so I had absolutely no concern about delivery.
Delivery with my son was difficult, his birth was vacuum assisted which resulted in a healthy baby boy but also a subduaral hematoma. Basically, he has a bubble of blood trapped between his skull and skin which landed him in PICU for several days – and we couldn’t even hold him for a day. He was 9lbs 6oz, the largest baby in ICU by far!
I’m so thankful that I had quality healthcare or my son would not have survived, he would have suffocated during delivery.
We are so fortunate in the USA, most of us are not worried about having access to health care. Not everyone in the world is as fortunate as we are in the US.
There are people who care for those without medical care, including the Cigna Foundation who has partnered with Samahope to help improve maternal health and safe childbirth for women around the world.
