My kids have so much energy, I’ve stopped trying to keep up with them! When I read the tag line “How to Have Endless Energy to Outplay Your Kids” on the Fit Moms for Life book, I had to read it! Wouldn’t it be great to play as hard as your kids and still have leftover energy? It’s my dream for sure!
Fit Moms for Life Book Review

This isn’t another diet book, it is a life-style changing book designed for moms. The author, Dustin Maher talks a lot about your mindset and how that powers the choices yo make. He talks about having a goal or a plan and how to stick to it. It makes sense that if I don’t have a plan in place, then how can I reach those goals that I’d really love to reach? If I do the same thing today that I did yesterday and the day before, it’s only going to go downhill, my goals will never be reached. I can feel that my neglectful attitude with exercising is going to sneak up on me, it already is, as I am aging.
The book goes on to talk about nutrition. The whole concept is that food is for fuel. We eat to power our bodies. Dustin talks about keeping a journal at first, to really gauge how much you are consuming, when, and where. He talks a lot about portion control too, something our society is way out of touch with.
I’ve learned a lot in this section. I have always tried to provide my family well-balanced healthy meals and snacks. I do like to bake goodies for my family too, but occasional treats are not the norm. However, I have learned so much about nutrition, organic foods, and about reading labels. I have found myself reading more labels and being shocked at what I am finding. Dustin’s rule is if you can’t pronounce it and if your great-great grandma didn’t eat it, then you probably shouldn’t either. Stay away from chemicals and highly processed foods.
The Making it Work section is all about putting it all into practice. It is about making smart choices with food and exercise. It includes great strength building exercises that you can do right in your own home. Dustin is all about toning up and building your muscles up – not bulking up. Dustin also offers DVDs to work out at home with that I plan to try in the coming months.
Throughout the book, there are real life testimonials of moms who have used the Fit Moms for Life program and have seen success. It is inspiring to see before and after photos of successful moms. They each share their story and their tips. I enjoyed reading the testimonials most, it gave me encouragement that I can do this too!
