We’ve been having fun with plenty of wildlife activity in our yard this season- bugs of every shape and size, amphibians crawling on glass, reptiles cruising our cracked back pavement, and even a stray coyote.
Roxie, our puppy, thinks it is grand. Her inquisitive nature got the best of her this week.
Sometimes animal interactions are worth filming. Check out her first encounter with a turtle She observed it moving through a window, so she knew it was alive.
The turtle was a garden variety box turtle.
It seemed innocent enough, and the turtle was surely safe in his shell.
But really, an animal she could HOLD? Too much to bare!
Captured! UH OH.
How to Remove a Turtle from the Mouth of a Dog
Although she did grab the turtle by the lip of its shell, we immediately had her release it using our OFF command combined with our Sit-Means-Sit reminder collar.
Regardless, it was an interesting evening. And the turtle is 100% fine- he ran off to the edge of the woods after 10 minutes of quiet- sans canine.
